For 150% market value, I'd sell every card I own, other than my pops' stuff from when he was a kid. Then I'd start collecting all over again with the cash

to be fair to the OP, he's asking what would you not sell for 150% of market value. Of course you'd sell your collection for $1M, but is it already worth $700k? Most of us would sell for 10x market value, but which cards would you not sell for a small profit?

I my question was if you would sell a card even if offered 40% to 50% over current market value not 150%.

The only ones I would not sell are those from my original childhood collection. For a 40-50% premium over market I would sell any as long as I felt I could replace it easliy at market price.
Edited to add: There are some others with sentimental value that I would not sell, but in the grand scheme of things are nothing special. Last edited by brob28; 05-24-2013 at 08:54 AM. |

I think a similar question was asked about a year or so ago... and the card that I listed as my answer has been traded away.
![]() At this point, I'd have to list these two. Anything else in my collection could be probably be replaced (and pretty easily); I have another Rossman-McBride, but it's not as nice: |

I only have one card that I am that sentimentally tied to. My dad bought me a Clemente rookie back in '85 for my 11th birthday. It's a little off-center, but would probably grade at a 4 or 5. I could replace it, but could never replace the memories of my childhood that it brings. So, it is priceless to me.
Thanks - Jason |

In reality it would be silly for anyone to not sell a card for 50% over market value since they could just buy another and keep the 50% profit. The only exception would be cards with sentimental value (a replacement just isn't the same) or where something is rare enough that another will not come around for awhile. For me it's the following with no established value and these are the only ones known to exist. What's cooler than a 19th century gladiator card (N197)and a Robert E Lee general card (T64) that was not know to exist until recently. ![]() ![]() |

For me, with the exception of a few 60s cards that could very very easily be replaced, that wouldn't be enough of a premium to entice me to sell anything, I don't think. Just not worth the effort to start the search again.
