Is it not a team variation error card that is what I believed? I purchased the card because I knew it was rare and I collect rarer cards I supposed it was a card like the T206 Ray Demmitt and Bill O'Hara I must be wrong.
To be honest I never even heard of this card before a few weeks ago. Last edited by Zone91; 04-17-2013 at 04:00 PM. |

2500$ was a bad buy in your opinion? No no race just a few rarer cards I wanted to add to my set. I know it is considered the Honus Wagner of Caramel cards but do not know why?? Can you explain? I figured they must not come up for sale often so why not buy it. Last edited by Zone91; 04-17-2013 at 04:06 PM. |

Please tell what cards I overpaid for (My guess is all of them)...cards are selling for a lot more than say a few years ago especially the old stuff in nice condition. I could have found a Mantle say for 10k and not 13k but the centering would have sucked or some stain would have bothered me I wanted my Mantle centered and with ZERO stains or marks of ANY kind. Please point me in the direction of where I can find these rarer cards (That are problem free for the most part) for so much less elsewhere and I will GLADLY go in that direction in the future. Where can I find a 1887 Old Judge Harry Wright graded PSA 5 elsewhere...there are simply none available (to rare to wait 5 years to locate another one...I am a collector and hence collect I can't stand waiting 5 years for a golden deal...that would never amount to much if I waited 5 years per card I add to my collection...in the end I would have like 6-8 cards then time for me to leave Earth)? I understand what you guys are saying be patient but some of these cards only come up every other year that is to long in my opinion to not be collecting....just to save say a 100$ on a card. Almost NO hobby is rewarding financially NONE!!! Last edited by Zone91; 04-17-2013 at 04:27 PM. |

Just as every generation throws a hero up the pop charts, every generation has a collector who rushes in gobbling up cards without regard to price. Anyone remember Charles Nisenbau? Rocketslover? etc. etc. If you're that well off that a few thousand here a few thousand there is immaterial, then go for it and enjoy, but if you are concerned about making wise expenditures, slow down, take a deep breath, do some research, and learn to negotiate. Good luck.

Obviously, these are older listings, but the E90-1 card that you just bought sold for ~1300 in 2009 here: Link. (You may need to register with Heritage auctions to see the price.) A better condition card in SGC3 sold for ~1500 in 2010 here: Link.
The Harry Wright is a great card in PSA5, BUT, Old Judge collectors rarely go by the grade assigned by the third party graders. The reason is for Old Judges image quality is much more important that characteristics such as corner sharpness since Old Judge cards are like photos. Therefore, since the card that you purchased is faded, it may be PSA5 in technical terms, but Old Judge collectors would consider it "overgraded." Anyway, I don't want to throw water on your purchases especially since you seem like such an enthusiastic new collector. People on the board want to see you happy with your purchases, and you certainly are happy now. We just don't want you to regret it later on, which almost always happens with new collectors. This was the same with me also. When I first re-entered the hobby, I bought a lot of things for prices where now, given what I know, I consider myself an idiot back then. In pre-war collecting, there are many extremely rare cards. There are many, many cards that are very sought after. That is why there is rarely a deal that needs to be made now. You might miss this awesome Harry Wright card now, but later on, you may find another awesome Old Judge card that is equally rare and sought after. There are so different images and cards in prewar, collectors change focus one after the other because there are too many things to collect. We see pickups that other collectors get, and we start to want to get into that area also. Therefore, there will always be plenty of ways to spend your hard earned money on cards that you will be happy to have in your collection. Happy collecting! |

I know where you can get a camera for less than $10K, but I can get you an even better deal on a scanner. Just PM me.
