Years ago, I started going after piedmont 42s...I think I posted about the scarcity in general of them back then. People just were not aware of the factory numbers much on t205s.
There just are not enough out there to theorize about scarcity of individual cards in my opinion but like Andrew I do see some come up more than others. I do not think that any p42 will ever hit broadleaf prices. Some might hit AB prices in my opinion but not many and it will fluctuate. I still see p42s more often than ABs. They were really high prices for awhile and then went down...now seem to be creeping back up again with the renewed interest in backs and a lot of t205s hitting the market. Currently I own around 30 different p42s and probably close to 50 total. Joshua |

Maybe a subset collector or someone looking to buy them up and sell again for a mark up. I have a near complete sub set of them. Sold a few off at nationals last yr but they were easily replaced. Also snagged a few very tough ones but paid well for them. Probably 10 away from a subset. About the same way for my ABs but those final few are extremely tough to find such as Matty, Merkle, and Gibson. I have seen then but not FS in the past 4-5 yrs or so

The only way they will go up in value is if a bunch of people want them.
IMO, there is a real uniqueness to the t206 backs. The P42 is just a small number on the back of the t205. So I don't think there would ever be but a handful of people that will want to go after them. But what do I know.... ![]()

I think the various T205 Factory backs will continue to be in demand (especially the tougher ones). By the time many collectors complete their sets they are "hooked".
It's not easy to shut off the collecting challenge. So, the challenge continues in the form of searching for the tougher backs of their favorite players....or their favorite team guys with either American Beauty's, Broad Leaf's, Cycle's, Drum's, Hassan, Hindu's, Piedmont 42's, Sovereign's....or, whatever matches their pocketbook. Here's my "Lone Ranger" P42...."Tonto", and the rest of my P42's have been traded away. ![]() ![]() TED Z |
