Haha...very slippery. Tiffany and variations? haha...wow.

I don't consider them. I do have the awful 74 Traded set, don't know why...and I don't have the 76. I do have the 84 & 85 Traded sets only because when I bought the base sets on Ebay a while back to fill in the 80's they were shipped free with them. I was surprised, and couldn't help but remember how popular the 84 Gooden was back in the day. Anyhow, as I said, I don't consider them.

At least the '74 and '76 sets were included in the regular packs--although more akin to inserts--and were not separately issued, complete box sets only. That would be a huge distinction for me.

Default Topps Traded

There were a couple of Topps traded sets issued in packs ( I think 1995 was one) , but unlike the 74 and 76, they were in packs separate from the regular set packs. The Traded sets at times became Update Sets or Traded and Rookie sets. To pick up their appeal Topps took to adding "rookies" to those sets

To me, if you are working on complete Topps runs, I would include traded sets. If you are focusing on individual sets, I don't think that you need to have the traded version for any given year to make the base set complete.

I don't consider them a part of the set, but with each set I've built I have the traded set as well. I went as far as to get the story booklets for my 1970 set. Hey, it's a Topps product with a baseball player on it.

I thought I was the only one that collected those '70 Topps booklets! I do not consider the Traded sets to be part of the normal set - but have made a concerted effort to pick them up as well. I am mainly a set collector and as such try to collect Traded sets as well.

Default Booklets

Guys---the booklets were included in both 70 and 71...and you need both to be complete . I found I needed not only those but every insert set...at least through 1994....and then all the issued and unissued test sets

By the way, if you were unaware of the fact there were 70 and 71 booklets...the differences are subtle...you may have a mixed set

There was a test run in 1985 of Traded Packs, I believe 1981 may have had other ways of distribution to go with the set form, 1990-1 era also had traded packs. I'm doing this from memory early in the morning so please correct me. In recent years, all the traded and update sets (U) have been issued in packs.

the 1st time topps produced wax pack boxes for traded cards only was in 1990
featuring young sensation Scott Erickson who quickly faded.
