I also sent him a message asking if he could give me any more information as to it's history, seeing how it was passed down for his GGfather. People like this really give the hobby of BB card collecting a bad name.

Be wary of sellers selling pre-war cards who also sell talking Darth Vader helmets and Finding Nemo figurines

Good point, so in other words a dishonest card flipper and not a true BB card collector.

Not really. When I was active selling I sold a lot of different things. China, Harley parts, cards, camera stuff, books, old stereos, old industrial stuff....Pretty much anything I found at yard/estate sales or flea markets that I thought was underpriced.

And yes, the occasional thing I bought on Ebay and sold for much more than I paid. Usually because the item description when I bought it was very poor, or the pictures were awful and I took a chance. (I've also got a "few"
cartons of stuff I was wrong about)

I never resorted to BS stories, and always had good photos and a description that was short on hype and actually described the stuff.

Steve B
PS: I probably would have kept the talking Darth Vader helmet.

I like this line from the Item Condition section:

“my card would grade at least a 7 or 8 in today's market if it was regraded”

Nice trim job on an authentic card. Have the same card in SGC 30 in my collection at home. Mine must be worth 5 grand in his world. LOL

He clearly doesn't understand grading as he says card would grade a 7 or 8 when SGC grades on a scale of 10 thru 88. This card would grade A every time due to being trimmed. What an idiot.

Another example of why I rarely buy on ebay from someone with less than 1000 feedbacks. Not enough history as a seller. Too many people on there lately that are looking to pull a fast one.

Why? Is there an unwritten rule in the hobby that if you sell cards, you can't sell anything else?

I realize the description is a scam attempt, so logic doesn't really enter the picture. But if the card was really appraised for $800, why would any seller have a BIN price of $300? That alone should set off huge red flags.

So now the card is only worth 9x what he paid for it a month ago? I guess he really is quite reasonable after all.

He'll fit right in on ebay as a card dealer.
