This was actually the first non-eBay auction I've ever bid on. Thanks to a certain card being in this auction (the T3 Tris Speaker) and the fact that Al C. was running the show, I registered and won four lots. This was the key card I was aiming for, and I couldn't be more pleased (my max bid was actually a bit higher than the winning bid, so from my limited experience LOTG is an auction house I can trust)...

I had 85 lots, 83 of them sold! Some came in lower than expected, others way above. In the end, I'm very happy with the results and truly appreciate Al's expert handling of the collection.
My family is grateful to this community for the strong showing and we're happy that the collection is passed on to those of you who will cherish the cards as Rudy did. |

This was a fun auction to participate in. I was fortunate to win the T211 Red Sun cards from the Rudy Strejc collection. Thanks for offering these. |

Gracias, Chris and John. Can't wait to see the Speaker in person. It should be easy to see past the wrinkles on a 100-yr old card.

I was very happy to add two more 1911 Zeenuts (tough pose variation and a tough single), great auction Al!

I knew what the postcard was when I saw it, just from being a Thorpe fan. I was shocked to see it show up on eBay. In hindsight, my snipe was woefully insufficient. But i was kinda nervous about it being raw. I coudn't find anything about the postcard ever being reprinted, but I am cetainly not as knowledgeable as many of the other posters on here. I am a mostly a low-end collector, and I was gunshy about getting in too deep. The postcard did start at $199, but I wonder if the seller (a postcard dealer) really knew what he had. Seems hard to believe such a nice example would sell raw if the seller knew the rarity of what he had. Last edited by Bored5000; 02-03-2013 at 10:27 PM. |

Baker price did not surprise me, earliest card and extreme rarity, heck... kinda seems like a bargain for what it is.

I also don't think ebay is the do all end all for judging prices. In most cases, postcards that sell on ebay are BELOW market value. This card is one that transcends just postcard collectors and branches into rookie HOF collectors and HOF collectors in general. Let me just say that there is a reason I went with Al. He knows his stuff, presents it well. It translates to good prices on those items that might need a little extra care and explanation. Last edited by Jaybird; 02-04-2013 at 12:12 PM. |
