There are a number of very good players who played from 1937 to 1947 who aren't well-represented with cards, including Sewell, Claude Passeau, Terry Moore, Whitey Kurowski and others. For some reason, there are no active Cubs (too much competition for Wrigley Gum?) in the Play Ball sets, a definite shortage of Cardinals, and no cards of many stars (Feller, Appling, Mize, Slaughter, Boudreau, Grove, Dizzy Dean, Lombardi, etc.). Unless you like Exhibits or picture pack photos, you're often out of luck. Wartime paper shortages likely played a role as well ...

John,

I was going to collect cards of a player named Larry Corcoran, but I couldn't find any of his cards that were available. I believe he was only issued in Old Judge and Gypsy Queen cards. In any case for some reason or other I just can't find any of his cards. I gave up on trying to collect his cards and went on to collect a few other players...

I always wanted a card of my Grandfather's pal Frankie Zak of the 1944-46 Pirates. Was on the 1944 All-Star Game but no card at all. Not even a postcard or team issue. So I made my own and then did the same for many other players who I though deserved a card.

He also has a KBats, N403 Yum Yum and an N167 card, so don't give up that search!

Not like it's a beautiful card or anything, but Mace Brown also has a 1941 Double Play.
