You guys are probably right. The seller is probably just "testing the waters" to see what it would bring in todays market and the reserve will be through the roof.
Who knows, maybe I am completely wrong. Either way, I can't wait to see the bidding on it!!

Jumbo I guess is synonymous with untrimmed. Beautiful card!

I believe this is owned by John Rogers from Arkansas who does not need the money. As stated, he is probably just 'sticking his toe in the tub.'

I agree. Normally I stay away from qualifiers, but in this case (one of the few) I think it better to have it all spelled out right there on the slab.
Who knows ..... maybe it will sell for 3mil???? Last edited by sdkammeyer; 01-04-2013 at 07:10 PM. Reason: grammar |

I doubt it. It's surely a fantastically nice Wagner. But my belief is that many Wagner owners and/or those with the means to purchase such a card would prefer to have a lower conditioned example that exhibited a lack of such a dramatic tilt.

I agree that the jumbo Wagner should command a premium. It's unique, and gives the owner piece of mind that it hasn't been worked on.
I wonder if that relatively new collector who bought the 1955 Clemente PSA 10 and other cards recently has enough interest & funds to go for this Wagner. |

My guess is the auction house begged the consignor to do this as a favor to raise the profile of the auction and as Jay said, the reserve will be so high it won't sell.

Why would someone who could afford this card bid in this auction, if the reserve is in fact too high? Someone who cold afford this card, I would imagine is very busy. I don't think we can gauge value from this auction, just a low estimate.

Edited to add, with some more thought and a few conversations my guess for the card will be about 2mil to 2.5 mil.....
