I've said it before and I'll repeat it here: insure the cards to value and don't sweat the monetary loss, and to the extent that there are [virtually] irreplaceable items with far more value to you than mere monetary, rent a safe deposit box for them.

Agree with Adam, while I have a large safe for my collection it is also fully insured thru CIS.

For all the great advice, much thanks.
NOTE: Like many, my collection is fully insured by CIS. But if I wanted the money, I wouldn't have spent it on cards! Instead I have the cards and want to keep them close. Scott, your safe is exactly the sort of unit I'm looking for. Is it bolted to anything? Can you send it by Fedex? |

Thanks Bob,
Mine is not bolted down, my smaller one was. This safe weighted 950 lbs empty and is now almost a ton. It was a miracle me and 2 big buddies even got it in as it barely fit (took almost 2 hours to go from garage to closet- 50 ft). Because of that I am not too worried about it getting stolen unless it was by serious pros and why would they have an interest in a nondescript house that happens to have a safe full of insured baseball cards lol. I will have fedex get right on that, haha. They used a special courier to send it as they needed a forklift to get it off the truck, think it cost like $300 to deliver to garage, they wanted another $400 to place it in the house (they needed 2 extra people for that job) where I wanted it so decided to do that myself and save the cash (worked out but was not easy). |
