I would be very careful in selecting a restorer- its not like restoring a piece a paper. Its an awesome sign. Congrats on the pick up

I did not realize you were on the board David. Thanks again David and I am thrilled to own it - once I receive it

Beautiful item. Congratulations. I agree with Mark in that I usually am not in favor of restoring vintage pieces but in this case I would. It would make it so much more enjoyable to look at. I say this as someone who has been attending auctions and shows for over 35 years.
Congratulations again, it is amazing. Peter |

I would not have it "restored" in that I would have it professionally cleaned and perhaps address any dings in the metal, like you would a car, but I would not add paint. whether ephemera, signs, decals, etc I would not add paint.

Yeah that's a super neat piece! As for restoration I would have to wait and see what it looks like when you receive it. I would also greatly consider the price to restore. Just my thoughts. Search "reach sign" on hunt's website. They've sold these.

I wouldn't restore it. I'd give it a light cleaning, remove the back temporarily to stabilize the rust that's started and reassemble. It will still look really great. Maybe better than a restoration that makes it look too nice.

Thanks for all the recommendations and ideas. I plan on stabilizing it so that further damage will be avoided and if that means removing some of the rust so be it. I am not going to have it completely restored at all as I believe it looks better as is. I will post pictures once done. Thanks

The restoration work on it is phenomenal!!! They removed the rust and added just a bit of paint to prevent the rust from spreading. As you can see from the photos they did quite a remarkable job
