Another two I very much like:
Eric Idle of Monty Python. I met him at a book store in Sherman Oaks, California, and got his signature. I have never been as nervous or excited at meeting a celebrity, and I've met quite a few living in Los Angeles for 35 years. To me, the Pythons were bigger than the Beatles. ![]() Groucho Marx. I've been a Marx Brothers fan since I was little and Groucho was instantly my favorite the first time I saw him do Hooray For Captain Spaulding. I've long collected Groucho memorabilia and read my copy of Richard Anobile's The Marx Brothers Scrapbook until it fell apart [I later bought a hardcover 1st edition]. I have long thought that a Groucho-signed Bowman card would be the best possible Groucho item for me to have. I found this one a few months ago: ![]()

LOVE the W.C. Fields, David. Definitely one of my favorites of yours.

He couldn't hold a candle to you, Graig. (But he was a better juggler.)

Nah, man - he was brilliant in every facet. What a joy he must have been to see in the Ziegfeld Follies. Had I the chance to get in a time machine and go back to the mid-1910s, I would have spent plenty of time seeing those.
And probably spent a lot of time at the Polo Grounds, too! Graig

My 1927 Yankees ball has to be far and away my favorite at this point. I won't bother posting pictures since the thread is probably still on page one. Just learning more about the players on that ball and stories about that team has been an absolute treat. I appreciate all the help everyone gave me even though I haven't contributed much on the site to this point.
Some of the autographs you guys are posting are amazing...great idea for a post. |
