I don't touch the new stuff.
I don't like that they're prefab collectibles that seemingly only change hands between collectors and not kids. The artistry pales to that of their 50s counterparts, and I find little to respect or admire about the players themselves. All this on top of being a lousy investment. I stick with 50s and earlier. |

I'm a little on the unusual side regarding what I collect- my main focus is pre-1960 but after that, I skip over the 60's, 70's- (although I am looking for a 72' Topps cloth Hank Aaron; shameless plug- if you have one for sale let me know

I'm currently collecting mostly St. Louis Cardinals, so I buy everything from Pre WW2 to the present, although I will admit, I don't really know a whole lot about the stuff from the last 10 years.
But that doesn't stop me from buying David Freeze, John Jay or Jaime Garcia cards, especially when they are cheap. |

I collect all of the above, but with the modern cards it mainly is factory sets of topps and a box or two of this and that each year. This is not because I dsilike the modern cards but because there are no more card shops anywhere near me. So slowly but surely I complete vintage sets and keep up to date with the modern sets.

I am a team collector. I collect the Yankees. ALL Yankees. This allows me to buy a 1906 Fan Craze or a 2012 Update Topps card, and everything inbetween.
I find this is a fantastic way to collect, as you wind up with such a varied collection. I have great old cards from the early 1900's yet still look forward to each new set coming out now as I want the Yankees from all years. I try to get my hands on EVERY Yankee card i can from 1980 and older, and on 1981 thru current i try to get every Yankee card that i like, there are too many modern cards to collect all of them as they dont all interest me, but i have a good representation of each year. I do like the old cards best, 1960 and older, but love them all.

My collection has everything from N172's to a full 1981 Topps hockey wax box.
As much as I'd like to be a disciplined collector it just isn't going to happen....and I'm OK with that. ![]() |

If it doesn't fit in my bicycle spokes, I have no use for it.
