good morning shoeless.....
im a member here on net 54 and have been in this great hobby since 1984...i maintain one of the largest yankees collection in the country...i have handled 5 mickey mantle uniforms since 1984 and this one on ebay is simply " the cheapest house in the best neighborhood"..the jersey comes directly from a teammate of mantle in 1966..the family has asked me to sell the jersey for them..with some of the documented prices within the last 12 months....1960 mantle sold for 400k.....1963 home from legendary 300k.....etc etc....this uniform will sell for less then one third....if i can educate some of the card guys....as brock mentioned....it was very common for the yankees so send the jerseys down after the season to the minors..thus is the number change under the #7.....other then that....the name in the collar and the year and wash tag are simply outstanding.....and the family provenance makes this a stellar mantle uniform and a affordable price.....if your ever in south florida ill gladly show you some of the finest game used baseball stuff on earth...

happy collecting,
scott m. goodman

Thanks for the clarification and information Scott. It was fantastic speaking with you on the phone too. It is always great to speak with another hobbyist as addicted as myself. Sorry I doubted the auction whatsoever but that is the skeptical part of me coming out. Take care and happy collecting....and thanks again for the great phone call. LL

Thanks for chiming in. Good to know.

You never can be too safe these days.

Good luck with your auction.

Mr. Goodman, I'd love an opportunity to visit your collection if it's a store front. I'm located by Homestead myself.

Thanks for responding either way, this is a interesting thread to follow.

Default Mantle Jersey

Hello Scott!
I will concur on all his points, and also say that I was the under bidder on a Casey Stengel jersey that was sent down to the ST Pete club . Still had his name in it, but # had been replaced and Yankee logo had been replaced, but it was indeed a Stengel worn jersey that was then sent to minors at end of season.
Good luck with the sale Scott

I was also a underbidder on that jersey.

it was funny Brock; someone i knew forwarded me that stengel info, knowing i have a place in clearwater. So I flew down to see it in person, saw it was real, and attended the auction in person, bringing cash, figured 'no one knows about this piss ant little local estate auction house, I'm gonna steal this.' And of course the item was on Live auctioneers, and there were tons of phone bidders

Surprised at the low price the 1954 Stengel home jersey brought, only about 4500.

What you think it was worth? I saw another Stengel bring about the same not long ago.

I'm curious about who the player was? Because the jersey was sent down to the minors for use in 1967 and maybe longer then that. So what the player who played with Mantle tracked this jersey down then?
