I never renewed a couple years ago, and they never even sent me an email.....
The thing I hated most was sending in cards, waiting forever, and then getting a card returned ungraded, but no decent explanation why, just "Altered" or something like that on it. That happened twice to some T 206's I sent them. At least note the issue please. I could care less about getting my cards graded now, if I want something graded I'll just buy it already graded on ebay.
