Below is a signed ck I picked up this month. Dual signed during Ruth's playing days with the yanks with TWO tough sig variations. It was from the Walsh estate(Christy also signed it). ![]() ![]()

Ben, That is crazy! Special on so many levels. Twice signed, Full name signed, Geo H Babe Ruth signature, which is a very very uncommon variation of his signature, Walsh signed, and being a check with provenance from Walsh family has no doubt of authenticity. Congrats on a superb pickup. How are you going to display it? Thanks about the Goudey. My set is moving along slowly but surely. It may take a while, but I think I'll get there. Wayne, Congrats on the Gehrig. That is a fantastic item. I love those postcards. Best, Mark

I'm obviously not Mark, but... I would consider using glass on the back side of the frame. That check is too special to hide, if you know what I mean... Last edited by Scott Garner; 08-31-2012 at 04:27 AM. |

Ben,
Here are 2 ideas. First is to make a high quality color photocopy of the back and frame them side by side under a type 1 or similar. A couple of years ago, during the Presidents weekend, we were in D.C. and went to the National Archives. This is the only weekend per year that the original handwritten Emancipation Proclamation is displayed. Because Lincoln wrote the speech on both sides of the paper, this is how they display the whole document. Second idea is to pt the check in a holder of some sort with small hole drilled in the ends. Have the framer make an opening in the frame under the picture a little bit wider than the holder. Put 2 small pegs on either side of the opening and place the pegs through the openings in the holder so that it is able to rotate. If you want to see the other side of the check, you would lift the bottom of the frame away from the wall a little and just flip the holder. The first idea is easier, but I think the second would look pretty cool in action. Mark

That Ruth check is pretty sweet. Congrats on the pickup. These pickup threads are some of my favorite things on the board. It's fun to see what people drum up to add to their collections
