If I had to guess, it was probably a rotocutter. Perhaps Bill can leave a message on Leon's voice mail to confirm.

Likely the same way the originals were cut. That's how I'd do it If I were going to do that sort of trimming. No xacto or roto knife.

8 T206 commons were probably sacrificed as practice pieces.

Does anyone know how the originals were cut?
Also, someone in contact might ask regarding the details of how the card was cut; I think we're all curious regarding how it was done so well. |

The same sort of paper cutter that was used in the teens is still in use in pretty much every print shop around. Some may have a few modern features, and more power, but the basic machine is the same.
The shop I worked at had a corner rounding machine that was actually from 1910. Foot powered. Grandad always told me to pay attention or I'd end up kicking a footpress, and eventually I did anyway. (Only for a day or two, and it was fun in a way )Steve B |

trimmed from a sheet, or just an oversized card trimmed down? If from a sheet, could the person/people who did the trimming let us know what other cards were on the sheet, how large the sheet was, etc? I'll admit, I've seen that other sheet that has a Wagner on it, but any scans or photos I've seen of it look like it was taped together and not a real solid sheet.
Not looking for controversy, just answers. |
