Eh! While I get where you're coming from with saving money by avoiding grading on lower grade cards. We are talking about someone who is newer to vintage here...No offense meant towards him, but if he's gonna start with the bigger cards(even in lower grade), graded is the way to go, not so much for the grades themselves, but for authentication purposes.
Now if he were starting on a smaller scale, I'd say go ungraded, because he could then feel his way through the bullshit, and know what to expect and look for when moving up to the "big boys"...
Personally, given his approach, I think he's doing it the right way.
