I used to love t206's but everyone talks about them to the point where just hearing about a "Rare back" annoys the heck out of me.
That being said, when you think "classic baseball sets" I don't understand how you could not have them on a top 10 list (even a top 5). Now if we were talking about visually appealing, there are way more sets out there that look better than t206's.

If by "classic" important is part of the equation, then N167 old judges have to be there. It was the first baseball card set in the common way we think of sets of cards - promotional pieces that came with purchase depicting players on the front and an advertisement for the item. It began the tobacco card craze which later expanded to candy, gum , and so forth. It really started it all. I am away from my computer or I would add scans. If anybody can add a scan, that would be great.

I'm changing the rules: first, prewar only; second, a dozen of the classic sets that I believe best reflect the broadness of the hobby: (all are true sets, with 100 or more cards counting variations)
1. N172 2. E107 3. T206 4. E90-1 5. T202 6. T212-2 7. E254 8. E145-2 9. M101-4/5 10. W514 11. 1925-31 PC Exhibits 12. R319 Really hate leaving out T204, but the 1909-1912 era is already over-represented. Honorable mention to R318 for the diecut, although the tints are covered in the Exhibits.
