Default Great Articles

Thanks for sharing those articles...I have never seen them before. I did not mention this previously, but Dutchs' wife Grace Tunstall Hewitt Revell(e)(my praternal grandmother) lived until Nov. of 1956. I was 11 years old at the time of her death, and she was the person who would walk me to the Norfolk field on Church St. to see the Norfolk team play. She was a wonderful person and always made me promise I would tryout for baseball (and I did!!!!).
The status on my photos is that with all the damage caused by the windstorm last Friday, I have not had a chance to scan the few photos that I have. (Wal Mart was without power for several days....this induced a major panic to people of the Altavista Va. area...But I hope to get that done this week......I will need help in posting, and it has been offered. Again I appreciate the interest and posting of articles regarding "Dutch"...Thanks a million...Lou Revelle, Lynch Station Va.

Default Photos of "Dutch"

I have scanned a newspaper article (with photo) ca1904 and a picture of a team (which includes Dutch). I can't identify the team. Leon was going to help me with the scans to post, but I have not heard back from him. If he lives in Va. he may have lost power due to the recent wind storm....Any suggestions will help....Lou Revelle

Default a few more pieces

Lou was nice enough to send over these pieces of information too...
.

Upper scan- Newspaper
"Leon...This article is from a Tidewater area newspaper. I would guess the date to be just prior to 1910. Notcie the spelling of Revell(e). My praternal grandmother suggested an "e" be added (probably around 1900)."

.
.

Team picture - Lower scan
This team photo is from an original photo (as was the article). I do not know who this team was, and I can't make out the name on the shirts. Dutch is in the middle row, second from left

Default Many Thanks

I would like to thank Leon for posting these....Also of interest is to notice the spelling of the word "notice" in the article description. Sorry about that, but I am terrible with a keyboard!!!!! I hope some of the forum members can share info. regarding the identity of the team shown in the photo. I would like to find out if anyone else had ever seen the article.....Thanks ...Lou Revelle

This was, and remains, a fun thread. Not only for the collaborative effort on the cards and info on Dutch, but also for some of the old guys in this thread. It rekindled lots of memories. Thanks, Leon.
