Is it just me or are the mid-grades (PSA 4-6's) falling off in prices? |

I have seen a decline, with my prices - my consignors and I have not been getting good prices - early spring was great and then the big auctions came and went. The spring auction season we just had may have something to do with the prices |

i saw a fall-off in 7's-9's over the last few months, and i got out of them...it has trickled down to mid-grade, i guess...a bit scary. BUT i see RISING prices in rarities (the demmitts, oharas, elberfelds, lundgrens, etc, etc.), and rare backs are stronger than ever, as well...collectors always seem to come back to "basics"...rarity, rarity, rarity... |

I have always collected scarcity in the hobby and cards/players/poses I enjoy. I realize the foundation of the hobby is to collect sets, and I admire that, but type collecting of scarce cards I really enjoy has been berry berry good to me.....I remember picking up my Uzit, raw but probably would grade a 5 (maybe high end 4), for about $350 from an antique dealer that bought a type collection. Love the T206 backs too....as for prices on t206 commons and high end cards I will defer to the experts on the board....If anyone ever goes to see what I have for sale it won't be too many t205 or t206.....though they are great sets it's just not what I enjoy....best regards and happy collecting.... |

but they are still very high compared to historic standards. I think a lot of the run-up was the desire of a dozen or so individuals to try and complete an EX or better set, and sometimes as the upgrades came in, there was more that they had to sell. And definitely T-206 is one of those sets that seems to get ever-increasing number of cards graded. A fairly significant number of raw sets have been graded out over the past few years, leading to spikes in VG/EX - EX/MT material available for most commons. |

Yes, I have noticed maybe a 10% or so drop in mid-grade T206 HOF'ers. |

as "cool" as the 100 year mark sounds...i don't think it will have any effect on pricing. |

Does anyone have any comprehension how many T206 commons are out there? Perhaps one or two million, to take a wild guess. |

There will be a price change and you will see higher prices (2009-2011), but not the same as past years like 2000 and 2001. This will be interesting to follow, but overall the hobby is in good shape, many new collectors are coming into the hobby, still need more kids and parents to be involved. The bad news is that many of the older dealers will move on and start selling more product, but will there be enough people in the hobby to keep prices consistent. |

Just curious what the average age is of board members who are pretty deeply involved in T206's....it may be more older than younger. |

I started a new thread for this..maybe easier...hopefully enough people contribute. Would be nice to see some 18 year olds coming into T206's...but for now i'm doubting it. |

I think there has been a price decline for Ex and Ex-mint t206s lately, but I think the Vg and Vg-x are still pretty strong. I have seen some sell in the 60-70 dollar range. The average is probably somewhere in the low to mid 50's. |

I also have been noticing that the price of everything from Vg/Ex to NrMt have been sagging. I try to but what I can but have spent too much lately. |

Definitely. I was watching EX-MT sell for 225-250 all day and now its it just the portrait shots of common cards the eek out 200. |

Brian makes a very good point. I saw the same thing last year, when I was in a different hobby. The summer months definitely have an effect on prices. I'm sure they will be back up. New collectors of this card type are popping up every day. I've only been doing this since January (6 months). |

Your right, if there is going to be a drop in T-206 prices, it will be collectors like us who will break the fall. We need to introduce more people into the hobby. |
