I know that there are cards in the "Series of 80" that have tougher backs. On some, the first line of printing on the back ends with the word "eighty" rather than with "eighty of the" and that the former are considered difficult. But how many individual cards are difficult? The Encyclopedia mentions a couple Babe Ruth cards which lack parentheses around "Babe" and a Heilmann card spelled "Heilman." Lipsett calls them "exceedingly rare." Have others emerged? Tonight on ebay, a Charlie Deal (with a small crease and a small scratch on the back) just sold for $123.50. It was described as being a very difficult card. Is it? Are there others? |
