Not sure about the price...but I think I'd be cracking and resubmitting..maybe thats what the high bidders were thinking? |

I have not followed prices that closely, but it seems reasonable to me. It is a very clean looking HOF with a scarce back. And it looks like a good candidate for a bump on resubmission. |

as a collector of rare backs, i have seen pricesreally going up as of late...actually seems like hindus (yes even just the brown ones) really starting to get up there in price...price seems fine to me. |

does it go all the way thru?...well anyway, that is probably why it is a "2"...otherwise might be a 4 or 5... |

It does based on the scan: |

It is hard to tell from the scan, but it may be a orange insignia variation. I know some collectors that put a premium on those. The one I have kept in my t206 set is like that. |

I saw the hole and it kept me from bidding up to $400. |

SGC is death on chips. The chip lower left corner probably did the card in. Might be a resubmission to PSA in the future (?) |

Bob - there is apparently a pinhole in the lower left part of the card. I missed that when I first looked at the card, but that has to be the reason for the grade. Perhaps the price got so high b/c many of the bidders also missed the pinhole. |

I don't think that is a pinhole. I have two Bresnahan's and one has the same type of "flaw" |

Thanks Ted - I guess that's just much higher than I thought the going rate was. I sold a bresnahan portrait earlier this year graded an sgc 60 and it only sold for about 225. |

I thought the HOF'ers didn't get the same premium on the backs as commons? |

Well was basing on the PSA 3 common with Lenox back that sold the other day for $533 or something like that I think...and the Marquard PSA 2 Lenox that was sold for only $550...apples to oranges maybe. |

Yeah I see your point...I was just going by the multipliers. The PSA 3...presumeably a $50 card for easy math...a bit more than 10x the value with the Lenox Back....the Marquard PSA 2...I'd say...$80 with a common back? Almost 7....so your right, point taken |

I think the price is reflective of the T206 market right now. The market is really "hot" right now where I live. I used to buy VG/EX T206 commons for $10-$12 off of the 3 regular card show dealers I vist a few times a year. Now, I can't buy them for less than $20-$30. Ebay is a whole different story. the values of cards realized on Ebay are artificially inflated I believe due to a combination of shill bidding, and buyers that don't really know what hey are bidding on. Anyone interested in rare backs might like to hear that I will be unloading pretty much all of my rare bnacked cards except one example of each. I'm just not in to the whole "inflated value for rare back" thing anymore. My brother and I have some Broadleaf, Carolina Brights,Hindu, Tolstoi, Uzit, and El Principe backed cards that we will be Ebaying off pretty soon. |

i believe i was the third highest bidder on that card. My bid was based on back rarity, eye appeal and the card was a HOF portrait. |

I was up there too - my max was in the $330 ballpark, which I thought might even be overpaying a bit. But I think it's a great looking card and I'm trying to collect as many different back types as I can for the St. Louis players. |

Dave I when you look at a T206 back multiplier list, the HOF's get less of a multiplication then the commons, but that makes sense because the HOF's base price is usually twice or more as much, so if you look at the T206 Backs Multiplier at t206museum.com they discount HOF back multipliers in half. Uzit 30X regular, 15X HOF's. Imagine how inflated T206 HOF's prices would be at the higher rate! |

guys- these back multipliers on various websites are "guides" not the gospel...take it with a grain of salt...a card is worth as much as bidders are willing to pay and how bad they want it or need it...racking your brain trying to figure out whether it is 10x or 7x or 13x...that is a waste of time...just study the market and relative rarity and you will start to get a gut feeling on how much a particluar rare back will go for...then multiply that by 3... |
