I once sent a certified letter with some original documents that literally disappeared for two months, reappeared in the destination city (LA), pinged back and forth between LA and (of all places) Sacramento for a week, and then finally got delivered to the WRONG ADDRESS lol but fortunately the person contacted the addressee who picked it up.

Halftime report:

Thread gets started about a lost package from a deal on the BST.
Multiple rants by the OP.
The board gets drawn in more.
Leon gets drawn in to mediate.
Tracking history is provided by Leon.
Seller's name never gets disclosed.
Seller pops in, anyway.
Nobody involved will clarify if tracking was ever provided.
Seller offers refund and OP rejects it.
All over $15...

I have had 2 very recent mailing issues with Sterling Auctions and another board member. I won a small item in Sterling and sent a check as I am a cheap bastard and will save a few percent when I can. After weeks, I got an email saying it hadn't arrived. Lee and I (*hey Lee) just said he would ship and we could make it right on advertising....About a month later Lee said he got the check and it looked like the USPS machine messed up the envelope. He just tore it up, no problem.

On the other, it was one of those huge Team pics that was auctioned on the front page. I sent it out within a few days and sometime later (3 weeks'ish) the winner asked about it. I tracked it and it only showed, in transit. I told him I would go ahead and refund him (it was a small amount but still) and he said just wait. Quite some time later (maybe a month) he said he finally got it. Stuff happens.

Let me help on my only small part. Seller said it was given to the buyer and the buyer said he didn't get it. I don't really care at this point. And no, I didn't want to get pulled in, but am always happy to try to help.

.

Here is a completely unrelated Bowman given to me by the OBC guys a long time ago..

Why don't you do us all a favor, and drop effing dead. Clear the ear wax. It isn't about the money. It's about the cards. Who cares what they cost, other than you. They were 6 1948 Bowman cards the seller was basically giving away. If it was a $15M 52 Mantle, would that make it more relevant to you. Stop the nonsense, stop being a bottom feeder jackass please.

It's still in the system and being tracked. That's a good thing.

It's going on a weird ass tour of the United States, but someone is scanning the package.

It doesn't help any immediate wants or needs, but the system is still aware it exists.

So has buyer received the tracking number or not? If it was provided once, why could it not be provided again?

If a seller refuses to supply a tracking it’s because it doesn’t exist.

Just quit it. Do you think I made up that sequence of USPS offices above, where it has been delivered? I am sure the buyer has it by now and I do too.

What part of this do you morons simply not understand? How many times do we have to tell you? It IS NOT about the freaking money. It's about the cards. Get it through your thick skulls, and DROP IT. PLEASE.

This is a very informative thread, in spite of what some might have said already I have learned a lot! Some is what was already known but reinforced.

1. Always insist on getting tracking info.
2. Don't start diss threads for purchases under fifty bucks.
3. Never trust USPS to deliver something on time.
4. Some folks will argue anything.
5. Keep a closer eye on BST stuff is obv cheaper there than I realized.
6. Leon is a boss, deal straight or be prepared to answer for it. I like that.
7. Don't freak out if it takes two weeks to get a package. (see item #3)
8. Folks on this forum are passionate collectors and look out for each other.
9. Communication solves problems, OP was mad but respectful enough not to flame the seller and it looks like it's working out for everyone.

Probably not in this case, but many times on ebay I got a "score" and they never showed up. I had anxiety over the shipping, as another buyer could easily try to offer more money, and in the end I was correct. The seller had never shipped and I missed out on a card. A few times it was even a BOARD MEMBER who made the offer and ended up with the card, after I'd paid for it!

The tracking history is set forth at length above. So obviously James now has it.

I had assumed (perhaps erroneously) that Leon had gotten the tracking history from the seller.

Right, and if buyer doesn't have the number then they can't check the status on their own. This whole situation just seems bizarre to me.

Ah I see what you and Tim are saying, but Octavio obviously owned this, I am certain if James wants the number he will give it to him if he already has not.

No I don’t believe you made anything up.

I didn’t see a delivery scan in that mess. 2nd, just because you posted that doesn’t mean it was the correct tracking information. Without the number and all origin and destination that was worthless. Furthermore, tracking information can be modified after the fact. Just because you see something now doesn’t mean it looked like that a couple weeks ago.

That is because it hasn't been delivered yet.

I saw a picture of the package, the addresses on it, the USPS stamp and the tracking number. That is how I tracked it.

I don't think longtime members are going to do all of what you said over $15. What do you think?

This isn't a bizarre situation except for the craziness of the USPS. Otherwise, some minor miscommunications is all.

I think anyone that withholds a tracking number over a $15 package has issues. Didn’t see an origin scan in there either. Should we assume it hasn’t been shipped?

Did the buyer get that courtesy?

This has nothing to do with $15. It's just bizarre a seller would withhold that info from a buyer. I've yet to hear a straight answer to the question if the actual tracking number was provided to the buyer. And that causes red flags to go up. If it was provided, just say so and I have no issues.

This has nothing to do with $15. It's just bizarre a seller would withhold that info from a buyer. I've yet to hear a straight answer to the question if the actual tracking number was provided to the buyer. And that causes red flags to go up. If it was provided, just say so and I have no issues.
Buyer and seller seem to be fine now. I am giving some grace as someone probably made an honest mistake. I see no worthwhile reason to drill either of these 2 good members about it.

So all of that stuff I cut and pasted and you are asking if it shipped? Seriously? It looks like it's shipped about 15x!

Ok. I take that as a no, seller didn't provide a tracking number. It's such a simple question no one seems willing to answer.

I don't think that is the case but am not sure. I am not talking about it anymore.

I actually had a package end up missing in Aurora several years ago. I don't remember the other stops on the tour. The key to getting mine going in the right direction was communication between postmasters. My local guy and the postmaster in Aurora. James, if it is a USPS issue, you may find that your local postmaster may be the one you should be dealing with rather than the yahoos on this forum.

And for clarity, Leon you are not a yahoo.

The card is taking a short Fat Ass Herzog tour, but without the pictures.

At this point it's like that scene in Happy Gilmore when he takes that miniature golf shot and everyone's eye's are watching it bounce from one point to the next.

Jim - hopefully you have the tracking information now. You just missed Happy's initial hit from the hockey stick putter.

No. If Octavio said he sent the package, you should assume he sent it. Octavio has delivered thousands of cards on BST.

This entire thread has been absolutely CRAPTACULAR!!!!!!!

I don't give a flying fk if its over $1.50, refusing to promptly forward tracking information when asked is bad form to say the least. Seems like this long time board member just went out of his way to pick a fight that could have been defused in 15 seconds.

I have done easily 20-30 transactions both buying and selling with Octavio. They all ended with both of us being happy. Saying that Octavio is on his own schedule so if you need instant payment/shipping updates he is not your man. He sometimes takes a while and personally I am OK with that and will happily deal with him anytime.

On the USPS side I have had several cards take a LONG time to be delivered the last couple months both buying and selling.

Exactly. Seems many are missing the whole point here, when they talk about $15, or whether the cards were shipped and/or will be delivered (see below).

This has nothing to do with the point. The point is that seller appears to have not provided the tracking number. That's not ok, regardless if the cards show up.
