Sorry guys, I posted this on the wrong July pick up thread.
My newest Gehrig items. I got these in a big trade. I had to give up a photo that I really loved. I hated to do it, but it was worth it. 1924 Lou Gehrig type 1. ![]() ![]() 1927 Yankees infield type 1 ![]() ![]() Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Thanks Tony.
I like your new tobacco stuff as well. Very cool looking. That type of stuff makes for really neat looking displays.

Picked up these early oversize college pennants. Normal 12x30 pennant is in the pictures for scale. The Princeton one is 17" x 47" w/out the tassels as is the Xavier. The tiger head looks incredible The South Dakota is 17" x 59" w/out the tassels. The ladies grandmother worked at the factory where they were made and was able to keep them. Not really sure if they were available to general public to purchase or not. Mike

I just picked up a game used 1969 Twin road grey flannel jersey of Rich Reese.
Rich Reese was Nolan Ryan's ML record 383rd K in his historic 1973 season. This record still stands, and likely will not be broken because of specialized pitching. 1969 was Rich Reese's career year. He ended up hitting .322 for the Western Division winning Minnesota Twins. The Twins were defeated by the Orioles en route to the 1969 World Series with the NY Mets. After his baseball career ended, Rich Reese became a superstar in the business world. He began selling Hamm's beer, but transitioned over to Bacardi, where he worked his way all the way up to President and CEO. Pretty remarkable! |

Nice pickup! I've still got mine from when I was a kid living in SF (green with yellow lettering). Of course I stored my cards in it by team with the dupes going in a shoe box. Wish I still had the original box that the locker came in. There were two extra slots in mine at the bottom and when I was a kid I wrote in San Diego and Montreal so I think my dad must have bought the locker for me before 1969. This is the first one I've ever seen in red but I haven't been checking eBay for them or anything. Anyway ... great pickup ... brings back a lot of fun memories!

I'm sure I overpaid, but really couldn't resist this one. It's Dan Banhead's WWII discharge certificate. Not only is it signed, but has his thumbprint! For someone who collects Negro Leaguers and WWII players, this was an obvious "like."

Pretty excited about this one. An official line up card filled out and signed by Lefty O'Doul for a game between the San Francisco Seals and Oakland Oaks on April 20, 1950.

Just got these in the mail today. Very well done, beautiful full-color photography throughout, detailed explanations of the year-to-year changes and evolution of the balls, and they even include photos of the boxes that each ball came in! Something this comprehensive has long been needed, and these have a spot waiting for them on my reference shelf (after I flip through the photos a couple more times).
Well done, Brandon, and I hope that you sell out of the copies you're taking to The National. Don't get too comfortable resting on your laurels though, because you know you're only going to get the "hard" ball questions now that you've put the answers to all the "easy" ones in print ![]()

Hard to see in the pic but found a really nice large format photo of a baseball banquet with Tris Speaker and Carl Furillo. Banquet was held in 1954 in Reading PA. Found it with super cheap BIN on Ebay.

I'm new to collecting baseball items but I'm hooked! I'm a sign guy at heart and attend a lot of antique shows etc, so I picked up a few things that caught my eye while sign hunting.
A hand full of bats and mitts.and built a cabinet so my wife will stop pilling my stuff out in the garage! Love this site! |
