I can see taking a signed index card and incorporating into a "cut signature" card, but slicing up an already autographed card to create a "special edition of 8" is just ridiculous. And note that the edition size isn't for eight identical cards, just eight cards with the signature. Were there no more available signed index cards?

I couldn't find a photo of it, but I've seen a Jackie Robinson cut where the cut off the "on" to make it fit on the card. "Jackie Robins" was all that was visable.

Very nice!!! The only thing that could've been more ridiculous is if you would have cropped it onto the same card.

uooer Deck never cared, it was all for the money. They started the demize with there expensive prices back in 89. then they went to the memmoribilia cut ups. To compete, everyone else did it. Now the prices for cards are way overboard. Who the hell wants to pay $4 for 6 new cards. They drove the kids out. This will really hurt the hobby in years to come. Thank Upper Deck for all this. In addition to causing me to stop buying "new" cards, the good news is that chase cards can be directly credited with causing me (and I'm sure others) to start collecting "old" stuff.

My response to (I think it was a Willie Mays) chase card in 1991 (or so), was to stop buying new cards completely and start working on my 1967 Topps set, my logic being "why pay $4 for new cards, when I can get 1967 commons for less".

Soon after, I discovered Tip Top Weeklies, Police Gazettes, La Press supplements, Harper's woodcuts, etc, etc.

So I suppose I should thank Upper Deck for screwing up the hobby.

I don't have a scan, but I once saw a Donruss Ted Williams Cut card that was made out of his 2001 donruss classics auto'd card.
