Default Never seen the McQuillan

believe it should exist, and I've seen the other two Phillies from the 350/460 series.

Would appreciate seeing a scan. An auction listing or a Population report do not provide "definitive" proof in my mind, particularly given the chance for mistake/error that we know that both grading companies and auction houses make mistakes.

Default McQuillan

Marc,

Unfortunately, the auction lot was for a T206 520 card set and thus no scans of this specific card were provided. To me there is too much coincidence that both the pop report and the auction listing indicate an SGC 50 McQuillan Cycle exists. I'm just presenting the facts.

I really have to see a scan before I believe that the card exists.. I do believe it should but until a scan shows up I think it should be left off.

Why does the other McQuillen not exist with a Cycle 350 back?

Lee

Lee,

The other McQuillen (Ball In Hand) is a 150-350 Subject and Cycle 350's were printed during the 350 Only group.

Default Jerry, Lee, and Marc

Lee and Marc

I appreciate your skepticism regarding the McQuillan / CYCLE 460 card, since both of you have probably been looking for this card
for some years. But, so has Jerry, who also specializes in collecting the CYCLE 460 subset.

I have been searching for certain AMERICAN BEAUTY 460 cards for 6 years, now. And, recently I found Frill and Overall (yellow sky),
which I had been convinced were No-Prints.

CYCLE 460 cards are tough to find; nevertheless, I do expect that all 109 possible candidates will eventually be confirmed. So now,
there are only 2 other subjects [ Schaefer (Washington), and Seymour (portrait) ] missing.

McQuillan played with the Phillies throughout the 1910 season. He was traded to Cinci. at the end of 1910. The CYCLE 460 timeline
occurred before this trade. My point here is that there is no valid reason why McQuillan should not exist with a CYCLE 460 back.

Lee -- I agree with you. No board member has actually seen or confirmed this card. Basing a checklist inclusion simply on a population report and/or a card listed in a large auction grouping does not pass the "ample evidence" test in my mind to definitively confirm the existence of a card. Particularly given the wealth of knowledge / resources / hobby expertise of the many members on this site, it seems more appropriate to me to state "likely to exist, but not definitively confirmed".

Tim,

Thanks for the response. I agree totally with Marc's statement, until we have total confirmation it should not be added. It sure looks like the card should exist but until physical evidence is made available it should not be on the list.
