#1 What drew you into the set in the 1st place... Why start collecting t206s..

I saw this article in a Beckett when I was a kid: Hidden Treasure -- An unopened package of cigarettes from 1910.

#2 Do you remember your 1st t206 card.. What was it?

Ed Abbaticchio Blue Sleeves PSA 4MC

#3 Which t206s are you currently collecting... (Back set, southern leaguers, 520 set, HOFers, team set..etc)

I'm going to spend the rest of my life attempting to complete the 522 set, alphabetically, in PSA 4 condition.

#4 What t206s are on the top of your want list

Right now, I need Jack Bastian in PSA 4.

Default Love the T206's ...

Reason #1 : The T206 set contains 4 of the 5 first HOF inductees - Monumental ! No other pre-T206 era player made it in on the very first vote.

Reason #2 : The drawings and colors are superb.

I'd tend to agree about the image quality. In terms of colors and quality, the set is really unparalleled. That said, the back advertisements are really interesting as well.

1. What drew me into the set in the first place? At first, I was type collecting, picking up E92's, T205's, T206's, E90-1's,etc,etc, and for some reason I just loved the T206's way more than the rest. So I decided to trade off everything else to focus on T206.

2. Do I still remember my first T206? Yes, still have it- Bill Hallman SGC 50 (pictured below)

3. Which T206's am I currently collecting? Anything and everything that I need and don't have. I'm trying to stay in the V/G to V/G-E/X range. I probably have the least focus-meaning I need so many (going for as much of the set as possible) that it boils down to what I can afford at the time. A common is just fine with me

4. What T206's are at the top of my want list? More HOF'ers that I don't have, need some of the harder backs-shoot-I need so many one is as good as another at this point. My want list will become more detailed as I approach the 400 mark (which will be a long time from now at this pace).

I have the fronts of my T206's on my profile page if anyone is interested. Cool thread !!!

Sincerely, Clayton

#1 What drew you into the set in the 1st place... Why start collecting t206s..

My local dealer showed me a John McGraw hands at hip, while I was in there with my kids buying THEM cards. It reminded me that my Grandfather had once given me a poor condition Browne T206. I was hooked after about 5 seconds.

#2 Do you remember your 1st t206 card.. What was it?

It was the Browne, probably Chicago. I stupidly traded it 30 years ago and just recently righted the universe by purchasing one in much better condition.

#3 Which t206s are you currently collecting... (Back set, southern leaguers, 520 set, HOFers, team set..etc)

Definitely the HOFers, but also NY Giants and Yankees, and Black Sox. I am also interested in the players that have a connection to Ruth such as Carrigan and Warhop, etc.

#4 What t206s are on the top of your want list.

#1 is a Walter Johnson pitching in about a 3 grade. After that, Keeler with bat.

#1 What drew you into the set in the 1st place... Why start collecting t206s..

The history of the players of the era. I find it the most character and story rich era in Baseball.

#2 Do you remember your 1st t206 card.. What was it?

Tris Speaker in VG condition bought from a coin store for a very fair price.

#3 Which t206s are you currently collecting... (Back set, southern leaguers, 520 set, HOFers, team set..etc)

Collecting Joe Doyles with all the backs available. I have all except for one (Tolstoi) and am looking to upgrade some of them when the opportunity presents itself for a fair deal.

#4 What t206s are on the top of your want list

My #1 want by far....a Joe Doyle with a Tolstoi back in any condition. Also would like to upgrade my Sovereign Doyle and possibly my El Principe Dolye. It is an EX++ front with a reverse that has paste residue and staining. As a final thought... I have posted my buy prices for a Doyle Tolstoi that are in-line with what a Walter Johnson portrat would sell for in the various grades and not had any takers. A tough one for sure.

#1 What drew you into the set in the 1st place... Why start collecting t206s..

For the most part, the Wagner...No, not that I ever thought I'd get one, but what's the next best thing? Of course, the cards that were produced with it.
I'd originally just wanted one, then another, then another...The set sucked me in, and then studying up on the players, history and other information about the set, I was stuck.

#2 Do you remember your 1st t206 card.. What was it?

Krause, Philla pitching, in pretty rough shape on the bay for under $10.

#3 Which t206s are you currently collecting... (Back set, southern leaguers, 520 set, HOFers, team set..etc)

My collecting focuses vary. I find myself jumping all over the place from HOF rookies, pre-war HOFers(goal is at least one from each set), Vitcorian trade cards(usually fun and cheap), all standard topps sets(It's fun to slowly piece these together), and of course autographs, based on my given mood. I've clearly got attention issues...Anyways, I always keep an eye on the t206's, if I come across an affordable one that I don't have, I generally pick it up. Under $10-15 and I'm usually good to go, I'm not very condition sensitive either, and plan upgrading the really bad ones when the time comes. One of at least each back would be nice as well, but I'm not at the point in this collection yet, where I'm really focused on that yet.. A team set of the Cleveland players would probably be my short-term goal.

#4 What t206s are on the top of your want list
Nothing for certain, just a hope that affordable low grade ones keep popping up. Right now, I don't see a complete set in the near future, nor would I say it's a goal. I'm primarily focused on compiling at the moment, in hopes that one day I'll realize I'm close enough to really give it my full attention. For the record, I'm only at 28 including 3 HOFers in Clarke, Davis and Flick.

My first were mathewson and young (portraits) both ungraded from 1996, in ex-mt condition. To this day, i have still not gotten them graded. My favorites to collect are psa high grades with qualifiers. You get so much more card for your money, and i am still actively seeking them.

#1 What drew you into the set in the 1st place... Why start collecting t206s..

I like to shop. With T206, I can find a low grade example in my budget almost any day I want to. I also love all the different backs. Most of the time I find myself getting a new card in the mail and turning it straight over to the back. On several of my cards I appreciate the back more than the front.

#2 Do you remember your 1st t206 card.. What was it?

Mine was a low grade Bob Ewing I bought at a show in 2008 for $20.

#3 Which t206s are you currently collecting... (Back set, southern leaguers, 520 set, HOFers, team set..etc)

I'm working on a 520 card set, but I have a long way to go. I'm trying to keep a representative sample of all the semi-tough backs.

#4 What t206s are on the top of your want list

I guess a Red Cobb or a Johnson, but I still need so many cards that I'm in no hurry to get any one.

#1 What drew you into the set in the 1st place... Why start collecting t206s..
For me after reading the "Glory Of Their Times" and seeing the Rube Marquard T206, I became interested in the set.

#2 Do you remember your 1st t206 card.. What was it?

Mathewson Dark Cap

#3 Which t206s are you currently collecting... (Back set, southern leaguers, 520 set, HOFers, team set..etc)
Not really sure a little of everything from all, to Hall of Famers to Pirates. Going into 2010, I only owned one T206 which was the above mentioned Mathewson but now I at 113 different so we will see

#4 What t206s are on the top of your want list
Anything that I can afford that I don't have and won't get me in trouble with the wife.
