I have been a lurker on this site for much longer than I care to disclose. But Leon's "welcome" post (and all the hard work I know he must devote to this board) has encouraged me to join the ranks of posting participants.
Quick bio - I inherited my father's 1933/1934 Goudey collection on his passing, years ago. I have enjoyed thumbing through the legends he collected, and admired. Question - the Goudey collection is all raw, unslabbed cards. I've often been tempted to submit for grading, but the fees for having Ruth/Gehrig cards graded have deterred me from getting this done. Especially since the higher the value, the higher the fee. Am I confused about the fees for getting these cards graded? I won't know the fee until SCG determines the grade - which seems to me to be a conflict of interest - higher grade, higher fee? Leon - thank you for all the hard work to keep this site so relevant and enjoyable. Bob |
