Default Chicago

Beautiful stuff guys. Don't really have any Cubs or Whitesox stuff in my collection right now, but I do have something sort of related. It is this gold Chicago Athletic Association medal. The Chicago Athletic Association was founded in 1890 (one of the founding members was AG Spalding), and CAA member William Wrigley later adopted this C logo for the Cubs. The medal is marked on back Dieges and Clust, and with a name, that I have never been able to make out for certain (I suck at this old english lettering) - perhaps Lemke?

Default No wonder I was feeling a little ashamed...

I had no idea how many great Cub pieces were out there! And to think, basically my only piece isn't really a Cub piece... it's a Babe Ruth piece!

I'm gonna have to get myself one of those beautiful pennants that it seems everyone has except ME!

Keep it up guys, terrific post from the word GO.

This is a myth without any historical support promulgated on a web site that was (is?) maintained by the defunct CAA. The Cubs logo did not resemble the red "C" within a thick blue circle until 1979, and was a clear gradual evolution from a long series of earlier versions, dating back to 1909.

I'm a Yankees fan but I'm still rooting for the poor Cubbies (as long as they aren't facing my guys in the Series). It's a shame this is the last one you've got:
