A couple of cool Gehrig items I forgot about from Ed Barrows estate. First is a poignant handwritten letter to Ed Barrow from Lou's famous mother talking about her fond memories of Ed and thanking him for a Jubilee that was done in his honor. Second is a autograph sheet from Barrows estate signed by Lou's Wife very shortly after the death of Gehrig. Last is the only item I know of which is signed both by Lou's wife Eleanor and also by Paul Krichell the famous scout who signed Lou Gehrig.

Looks like Eleanor also signed on behalf of her mother on the first sheet.

Jodi

Good catch, I did not even know Eleanors maiden name was Twitchell until I read your post but that is pretty cool. The wife and the Mother in law on the same sheet even if the Mother signature is "secretarial". I am not aware of the event since nothing in the notebook of signatures had a date. Thanks for that info.

I started collecting because what i read about Lou. He is the main focus of my collection. The autographed 1934 goudey set I started was because it was "Lou Gehrig Says." I don't have most of the items scanned, but I found a few things that were handy. Hope you enjoy.

Team photo from first AL AS team

Promotional photo from when he was holding out and signed to do a movie "The Trail Blazers". This pic is from movie studio with a child star Bobby Breen.

Program from Exhibition game played the week before he retired. It's scored. He didn't play, but is still on the active roster.

Sheet music for theme song from Pride of the Yankees movie.

Front and back of Japanese program from POY movie. Entire book is in Japanese. Date on back of book is 1949. I think the movie was released that year in Japan.

I tried to edit pics to get closer, but I don't seem to be able to. If you want to seem these closer up use one of the Photobucket links below and look in folder "Lou"

It's good to know there are several other die-hard Gehrig fans here - just curious how many of you will be at the National and at the Net54 Dinner? Leon should give us a Gehrig Table!

I've decided to start taking pictures and scans of my Gehrig collection so I can start posting as well soon. Too swamped at the moment with National preparations, but I'll try to get some up here.

I already arranged to pick up 2 new Gehrig purchases at the NSCC - a 1926-29 Exhibits Postcard Back, and a 1928 W502 Blank Back.
