Nice one Paul. I'm currently in the process of trying to procure one of those single belt loop, right caption versions... I was going to wait until I succeeded to announce what will henceforth be known as the "Puck Variation".

Insert smiley face here.

lol. It’s one of the coolest photos around, if you cant find one i might have to part with it to enter “the collection”. It’s so weird that they tinkered with these so much and there are so many variations.

Don't tease me...

That's part of why I fell in love with the set. There are less than 700 pictures and over 1500 total variations (that I am aware of, so far), so on average each of them has a variation (although less than half of them actually do).

Received a new Ruth m114 today. Caption variation #8 of Ruth picture version #6. This is my 25th Ruth m114, and I'm aware of at least one I'm missing.

Doug you mention 25 Ruth M114's, how many M113's and how team photos he was in M113/ M114?

Happy Holidays and Thanks for sharing your collection. And for cataloging and very important and long running set. Maybe the longest running set in Baseball card History after Topps?

Merry, Happy, etc. to everybody.

Ruth does not have an individual m113, but he's included in the Red Sox Team m113 released in Dec 1915.

He's included in the Yankees Team m114s in 1921, 1923, 1926 (2 caption versions) and 1927.

Below are his 8 different individual pictures (the cropping on the smaller multi-bat version is different, note the distance above his hat), with the number of caption variations that I am aware of for each.

So, for those of you keeping score, Ruth is pictured on 1 m113, 5 m114 teams and 26 m114 individual posters for a total of 32 Baseball Magazine posters.

And Ruth isn't the player on the most posters (I think it's Gehrig, but honestly I never really thought about team pix until this post), although he does have the most different individual pictures (Walter Johnson has 6 pix).

Did some measuring today and found these differences on the pictures on the Johnson Arm posters :

Two loop versions
m113 Johnson version #2 (there are 2 variations of name placement)
Both pictures measure 8.75 X 18 inches

One loop version, caption on right
m113 Johnson version #3
Picture measures 8.75 X 17.5

One loop version, caption on left
m113 Johnson version #4
Picture measures 8.5 X 17

By the way, m113 Johnson version #1 (with 2 variations) is vertical and shows him throwing while wearing a sweater.

With thanks to Steve and his team at Collect Auctions, I added a completely new Archer m113 caption to my collection yesterday.

My previous Archers only had a right hand caption, this one also has a left caption.

I'm up to 121 m113 posters.

I'm still looking for these that I know exist :
Cardinals Team
Walter Johnson in sweater
Marty O'Toole
Victor Saier
Frank Schulte

And these that I'm not sure :
Braves Team
Pirates Team
Wally Schang
Bob Shawkey
Jimmy Sheckard
White Sox Team

Default New Newcombe and Wilhelm m114 variations - #1429 & 1430

With thanks to ebay (even though somebody bought a Campy that I wanted from the same seller) I received my most recent winnings today which included a couple really good ones.

Completely new captions of the full body Newcombe and the Hoyt Wilhelm.

Poor Hoyt couldn't catch a break, I knew of the misspelled first name version, but this last name misspelled version is one I hadn't seen before.

The bottom ones in the pictures are my new ones.

These put me at 1,430 different m114 posters.

I also upgraded a couple m114s and an m113 Mack, so it was a good day.

Great new pick ups Doug! Hopefully you'll get in touch with the owner of the Campy.

Poor Hoyt indeed.

Default New Elliott variation m114 #1449

Thanks Gary, but I'm not holding my breath. At least I now know that Campy variation exists.

Meanwhile, a couple days ago I found scans of 19 new ones that I had bought a couple months ago that I had forgotten about due to a month long business trip. I just arrived to my starting point on the next trip, this one for 6 weeks, so I won't be home to see new m114 #1450 of Christy Mathewson I just won in Heritage, along with a Gehrig upgrade.

My favorite of the new 19 is this Robert Elliott whose release I put as August 1954, a year after his retirement and a couple years after his second m114 poster type was released in April 1952 picturing him with the Braves.

Pictures are the new Pirates version, the Braves version, and a comparison of the 5 Pirates captions I know of (with the new one at the bottom).
