As a Yanks fan, all I can say is I’m glad that dumpster fire of an inning happened in Game 5 of a series they were already down in, instead of a Game 7. That would have been an absolute gut punch.

Silver linings.

Aaron Judge isn't the first New York outfielder to drop a fly ball at a critical moment in the World Series. But he hits more homers than my friend Fred Snodgrass, so he will likely be forgiven. Also, Giancarlo Stanton must be the slowest baserunner in MLB history - Ernie Lombardi deserves an apology

In seriousness, that NYY defense was beyond atrocious in game 5. was hoping for a longer Series.

Ironically, losing the Series might be good for the Yankees. Even if we had won it, the flaws in our game would still be there. A short while ago they did an internal audit and their conclusion was that nothing was wrong. Now the Dodgers' scouting reports completely lambasting the Yankees' mind-boggling mismanagement of the fundamentals are public and the entire baseball world is laughing at the organization. It has been a while since a baseball team has been not just defeated, but truly embarrassed like this. Maybe it will light a fire under Cashman, Steinbrenner, and the other execs and force them to finally address the issues that fans have been pointing out for years on end.
