Day 88 – 29 March 2024
Today I am showing you my 1971 Brooks Robinson Salesman Sample with pants along with some other items I will address over the next few days. I was lucky to find the Salesman Sample recently and am very happy with it. It is a Rawlings double knit, size 44. I believe it was for the 1971 WS and with the same collection is a uniform for Rennie Stennett from the Pirates. The jersey has a flat cut tail with B. Robinson on the back along with #5. The first initial was due to Frank Robinson being on the team but not for long as he was traded after the 1971 season. This would be the first year for the Orioles wearing a knit uniform. The pants have a zipper fly with pockets in the back. They are pretty small.

Day 89 – 30 March 2024
Along with the Salesman Sample, you will see a custom made helmet I had made with the bill shaved down and the old Bird. I was fortunate to find this and later had Brooks sign the top of the bill along the orange. It looks nice displayed. I would love to find an original.

I don’t think Steve is on Net54, but could possibly be incorrect. He has an amazing collection of mainly GU equipment, but has an assortment of other very rare pieces. Really good guy…

Day 90 – 31 March 2024
Also displayed with the Salesman Sample and fake helmet, is a Game Used signed Brooks Robinson Hillerich & Bradsby model MC44 bat, length 34.5 inches, weight 32.3 ounces made of ash with a standard finish. The bat was used between 1965 – 1968. It has a lot of use / character. The bat is cracked. The handle has been wrapped with a cork grip. The number 5 is on the knob with 32 for the weight. Brooks signed it in blue and marked it “HOF 1983 Game Used.” Both the signature and bat authenticity were done by PSA. It Graded a PSA GU 8.

Default Brooks Robinson Endorsed Items

Day 91 – 1 April 2024
I really enjoy odd stuff that Brooks endorsed. Today, I am showing you two items. A Palmgard Protective Fielder’s Glove for baseball or softball. It was made in Randallstown, MD. The glove has some type of special gripping material on the index finger and palm. It is size XL. Brooks signed it with his HoF 83 inscription. The backside of the box provides more details. Additionally, I am showing a Markwort Sporting Goods Company, St. LoPine Tar Rag. The Pine Tar Rag has some type of relationship with the Palmgard Glove. I did not have this one signed. Both items were endorsed by Brooksie so they must work. Should I break them open and try them out?

I think George Brett would have been a better spokesperson for the pine tar rag. It’s unbelievable that a “special” rag was marketed for applying pine tar. There is no way my old man would have bought that for me back when I was young and playing baseball!

I agree with both Mark and Scott. I enjoy seeing this stuff my parents would have laughed at me.
