Great photo. Just about the whole world of baseball stars from the 1910's to the 1970's present. I think that maybe 8 or so are still with us...

I was told it was a handout or premium that came with the All-Star Game program.

I have never seen anything like it before or since. I am thinking of having it framed; the back is blank.

Obviously, this is not a photo, but a team card printed in 1904 of the "Junior" World Champions. The Eastern League (AAA) Buffalo Bisons were considered the "1904 World Champions" when
they defeated the St. Paul Saints of the American Association.

Note...the Major League World Series was Not played in 1904.

I have a book entitled, "The World Series - A Complete Pictorial History", by John Devaney and Burt Goldblatt, and the writers talk about this. How McGraw wouldn't let his Giants play the inferior New York Highlanders, and how this led to the formation of the National Commission and agreement for each league to play an annual World Series beginning in 1905.

Excuse me for this correction.....but, John McGraw and John Brush (owner of the NY Giants) refused to play Boston (1904 American Lge. Champions). The NY Highlanders lost the
final Play-Off game to Boston).

I highly recommend the book titled "THE YEAR THEY CALLED OFF THE WORLD SERIES", by Benton Stark. It's an excellent, well-written, story of the entire 1904 season. Including
how Jack Chesbro (41-game winner) blew the final Play-Off game in the 9th inning that resulted in Boston winning the A.L. Pennant.

Yes, I can see how my poorly written sentence would be confusing. Devaney/Goldblatt imply that McGraw had convinced Brush not to play a Series even BEFORE the Highlanders blew it.

That's actually the 1914 Brooklyn Tip-Tops (usually called the Brookfeds that year). The 1915 team wore a uniform with a distinctive B on the chest, and were wearing those uniforms in an image published in a newspaper on Opening Day in Brooklyn, April 10th, so it is unlikely that they posed for a photo in their home park wearing their old uniforms prior to getting the new ones.
