While these aren’t pics of my “room,” I thought I’d show an addition I made this week to a photo in my office at work.
I’ve had this photo from the first baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony on my wall for several years. The ceremony took place June 12, 1939 and actually featured the first four induction classes (1936, ’37, ’38 & ’39). On a trip to Cooperstown last month I picked up a canceled envelope/stamp with the June 12 date on it. I used three 1-1/2" screw hooks to allow the plastic holder to hang securely on the wall and to overlap the picture frame, giving it a bit of a museum look. It seemed like a decent way to accentuate the photo while also putting the envelope to good use (instead of sitting in a box or drawer). |

So my collection has been relegated to a couple of closets by my spouse. I am forced to live vicariously through one of our fellow net54 members. He has a pretty spectacular place to display some of amazing collection. I shot a few pics as I was walking through his "closet" today.

A great collection. Would love to see more of his Pilots memorabilia, and of course, would really like the dugout bench from Sicks Stadium for my own collection.

This is easily my favorite Net54 thread of all-time. In the spirit of revivals going on the homepage right now I am hoping several-many of you have new photos to post of your memorabilia rooms.
I am photo inept but I will ask my wife for assistance and post some of my mess in a day or so. My room is a total disaster but now that retirement has arrived or is just about to it is my number one goal. I've been married to my saintly wife for 41 years, if I want to make 42 I need to do some straightening up! I will not be showing her any of your nice photos right now! |

Thanks! I sure hope so. I have an acquaintance whose mother was the team's booster club president...she funded a new uniform set one year. There's supposed to be a near full SET of jerseys in storage somewhere, but she hasn't found them yet.
She's said they're mine when she does...so there's hope! |

Some guys have a basement; others have a man cave, or perhaps just a walk-in closet.
I have a "man shelf" in which to display my modest First Dynasty Philadelphia Athletics collection: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Be careful, a man shelf soon becomes a walk-in closet, which soon becomes a man cave, which soon becomes a basement, which soon becomes a divorce. LOL

Not really a memorabilia room, but a great excuse to get some of the stuff up on the walls where I can see it every day. All WaJo and period Washington stuff, of course.

Hi Michael, there was a ton of great stuff I grew up with, and I still have some, but most has been sold off to defray the tremendous costs of full-time care for my Mom the past several years, and for other family purposes. We loved the memorabilia, but used it without hesitation to meet some serious real-life needs. I'm a collector, but I've never had trouble letting go of things when I had to.

Hank I consider your book on your grandfather one of my favorite bios on a player! I have the traditional copy but what is the thicker white edition on the left.
By the way the Beale Senators copy with dust jacket is a real toughie as I'm sure you know! |

Thanks, Mark. That's the bronze edition, a handful of which were made by Doug Allen of Legendary Auctions and sold several years ago by his wife on eBay when Doug was in prison. He did a beautiful job on them from one of the plaster originals, and I was lucky enough to snag one.

I too have always loved the Treat book though I only own the edition with the orange jacket. I have all of the Putnam books with jackets and only have three signed, two by Lieb and the Indians by Lewis. I wrote Mr. Povich in the late 80's and complimented him on his writing. He wrote back very quickly and asked for copies of some of my writing. We exchanged correspondence for several years. Did the same with Sam Lacy in Pittsburgh before his passing. Looking back I wish I could have asked him about a story that I have absolutely no proof of so far. There is a story flirting about that Josh Gibson hitched on some trains to come to Hot Springs, Arkansas when he was 17. He had heard the Crawfords were training here and perhaps this is where he was signed??? We have several photos of him here that year but I have no clue where he was discovered. Mr. Lacy was here then too but sadly the story popped up years after his death.
As a side note I wrote James Bready many years ago about his Orioles book which has been printed many times in both hard and soft cover. I received a huge package from him with all of his notes inclduing a first edition with many hand written changes inside. He said he was getting old and wanted it to fall into someone's that would appreciate it. I was very touched and really didn't know how to react. BTW I have Beale's Redskins book and his two college books on Navy and Georgetown. The Redskins book is as tough as or tougher than the Senators. Sorry to ramble. |

Heartwood Books in Charlottesville, VA has a signed "Special Limited Washington Edition" of 'Walter Johnson: King of the Pitchers" by Roger L. Treat. No. 839 of the limited edition. $25.00 plus $3.49 s&h. Their seller inventory number is 11111. I have no connection to the bookstore as I live in the D.C. area.

I love the 19th century collection! My family lives in an apartment, so there isn't a lot of space. My wife has a double sided display cabinet, and she has allowed me one side, the non-window side.
