As a few may know, I've only be an active pre-war collector since the beginning of the year. Most of my collecting time has been on Old Judge cards, as you may have noticed from the monthly Pick Up threads. I recently partnered with a Net54 member on a larger REA lot of pre-war type cards. My main purpose for going after the lot was the E102 Matty, E90-1 Cobb, and a T207 Johnson.
The cards arrived and I started to do a once over. I knew from the beginning the T207 Johnson was a miscut, but I didn't think about the way it which it was miscut. The factory number is on the top. If this were a T206 I know right then it carries a premium, but since this is a T207 I have very little threads or details on rarity, value, or T207 miscut collectors to do my due diligence. I sent the card to PSA and the card came back a 4 MC (very happy!! ![]() What is the consensus on this card? Is there a market for it? Are there premiums placed on T207s? Steven

They become rare and valuable when collectors start caring about t207.

I have a factory top miscut t207. I don't think I paid a premium even though it was advertised as being a miscut through an auction house. So as stated above I don't think they carry a huge premium, but if you were to get two people that like prewar errors/miscuts without caring which set you may get a bit of one. I fall into this category, but have been staying away from purchasing recently.

I don't think there is much of a premium on T207 miscuts unless they are really, really off. I wouldn't put a premium on your T207 Johnson but it's neat. I only have one error T207 and it's the Bressy that makes you think you are having double vision

When there is high demand for T207's. However, I don't see that in the foreseeable future.

A player collector might be interested. It would also interest the freak freaks like me. In short, it is definitely collectible. That said, I do agree with the consensus that you won't see the sort of primo pricing that T206 freaks get [or got; I think the run is over on them]. The opposite historically has been true--the error cards sell for less than average cards due to the defects. Of course, to me that just says now is the time to stock up on these when they can be obtained cheaply. I got this one at a National with a sweet Obak miscut [also shown] and the dealer thought I was nuts for wanting them:

I value PSA 4 (MC) as PSA 1.

On the contrary I value PSA MC designated cards at the value of the grade or sometimes higher. That is why this hobby is fun everyone gets to decide the value of items for themselves.

IMO, I prefer PSA to grade that a PSA2 than a PSA4MC

I wish all graders didn't consider factory mistakes in their final grade. It all comes down to personal preference. Though I would love to see two grades given, one for production grade and another for post production grade, but that is just my preference.

For both of the previous posters (hey guys) let's don't make a precedent of selling things on the front page. I get that it was within an informative thread but still.... If everyone did it, it would be a mess. Thanks and nothing personal. BTW, this is no big deal, just a friendly request to keep the forum somewhat organized....

I agree with Pete about issues giving visibility into the process. Whether it is print issues, cut issues, front/back issues, they all indicate something. I've never been a fanatic about such things but mostly find them just interesting - even when they suggest something fundamental.
This one has been shown here before, so not much new, but this Adams, for example, suggests that at least some T207's were printed like the Obak's, with cards oriented both horizontally and vertically. ![]()

It's nice to prefer things, but psa will not grade cards without qualifiers that are miscut or marked. It's only o/c cards can be asked to graded without qualifiers.

Very cool, Mike. Thanks for posting the miscut T207 with multiple card borders...many, if not all, of us like seeing how the cards were made, distributed, sold etc.....I don't think I have ever seen a T207 sheet so that might be the closest we get to seeing one? (maybe I missed a known sheet though?)
..btw, I am playing softball with a guy we used to play with in Nasa Area Little League again, in Dallas. His name is Pat Rea (sounds like Ray).......... Quote:

I think this Chalmers is pretty cool. The name below appears to be Chalmers and I haven't been able to tell who is to the left.
