I received THE GLORY OF THEIR TIMES for Christmas 1966 from my parents. Of all the individuals written about, the most enthralling chapter to me was that of Smoky Joe Wood.
When I attended my first major card collectors convention, at Troy, Michigan in the summer of 1972, TCMA's Mike Aronstein was there with some of his high quality, but always detectable as such, reprints. Honestly, it was a genuine thrill to buy his reprint of Joe Wood's 1915 Cracker Jack card. I fully realize youse guys hate reprints, but back in 1972, this was a joyous acquisition. Still enjoying that one to this day..... ---Brian Powell |
