scratch marks
i think what you see as pen strokes are actually scratch marks or like tiny slits on the physical surface of the card.
the hat color is actaully pretty consistent in color and the color is a perfect match to the ear color. not sure where to pick up a small black light yet at but i definitely will be adding that to my collection of tools. gotta do some looking. kevin
