The 2010 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, one fine compilation of baseball card information, lists the Wambsganss card as using the photo of Fritz Coumbe. I think they're right. The card is listed under Sporting News M101-4.
This is not the only card that has a "Wambsganss" caption but does not actually depict Bill Wambsganss in the photo, a frustration to someone wanting a card of that unassisted triple play player from the 1920 World Series. Last edited by FrankWakefield; 03-28-2010 at 07:56 PM. |
