Love the Diamond Stars. Great set for collecting the '34-35 Tigers. It's a good, easy and relatively inexpensive pre-war set to collect. And despite what most of the price guides say, it's the first 23 cards from 1934 that are tough - at least to find in good condition.
The cards themselves always suggest to me a sort of DC comic look from the 1930's. Seems like you could put together some sort of story based on some of the oddities in the backgrounds. Something obviously has blown up behind Jimmy Dykes but he doesn't seem concerned.. s-l1600-11.jpg Now the ominous cloud has turned yellow - seems like a job for... stanhacksuperman.jpg Turn around Louis! What's wrong with you? You're about to be killed! s-l1600-18.jpg And now, someone just bashed Al with a bat so hard that his mask flew off! s-l1600-10.jpg This ominous red sky with billowing smoke can only mean one thing...trouble. Quick, send up the bat signal! s-l1600-19.jpg |
