That's a great woodcut and I'm quite certain that it's the one of the first baseball woodcuts from the Daily Graphic. In that same year, there were woodcuts depicting the Baltimore, Athletics and Atlantics club in that same half page format. Bruce, that sheet music is fantastic as well! The Cincinnati Red Stocks Leslie's woodcut from 1869 is the toughest Leslie's woodcut to find imo. I have seen a lot more of the Creighton woodcuts over a 20+ year period but have rarely seen that Red Stockings collage. |
