There is one Bridwell Batting listed with PSA, but it only identifies it as People's Tobacco, not if it is Kotton, Virginia Extra, or MINO. This is the only one I see on SGC. When I got it from Glenn (darwinbulldog), he had this to say about it:
"If, on the other hand, you want a truly rare card, come inside and take a look. It looks as though it's been through a hurricane or two (Betsy? Camille?), and I can't swear it was never placed under a leg to level a chiffarobe or folded into a tube for delivery by carrier pigeon, but hey, it's a Mino. This is perhaps the only surviving Mino Bridwell (no other copies graded by SGC or PSA). It is, as they say, a true "1 of 1, highest graded!" So if you like tough T types and Louisiana types and Federal Leaguers and deadball era utility infielders and guys who finished 2nd in the NL to Honus Wagner in position player WAR one year (1909), well, this is the card you've been waiting for." Sold me on it. I love, still get it out about every week to look at it.

This is my rarest card. It's not a 1/1 like some others in this thread, but the population is low and they're pretty tough to track down.

Only one of these is a card, but I'll stretch a bit. And I completely agree, Andy. Some sets are too rare to collect, so demand just isn't there. I'm not going for big-name players, so I can often find unusual items for not too much.
Bill Probably unique... ![]() ...not sure about this one; ask Bugsy... ![]() ...these are all ridiculously tough... ![]() ...and this one belonged to Buck Barker (stamp on back) ![]() Last edited by birdman42; 10-26-2015 at 07:20 PM. Reason: to respond |

That is a cool card. It looks to me like it is actually a triple overprint - two at the bottom and one in the middle.

This was my rarest card, right now it's on it's way to PSA for grading and then it will be in Love Of The Games Winter 2015 Auction. So far there have been two graded, one by PSA which was authentic & one by SGC which was also authentic. I am hoping this one gets a numeric grade. It was a thrill to find this card and I am hoping it finds a good home!
quick edit to add: Just got word that the card graded a PSA 1. Pretty cool! ![]() ![]() Last edited by cardsfan73; 10-29-2015 at 05:39 PM. |

Nice Detroit Seamless Steel Tubes Cobb, Dan,, but if he was 21, as the card states, it is almost certainly a 1908, not 1907. Cobb was born December 18, 1886. He would have been 20 through the entire 1907 season, and 21 through the 1908 season. I think SGC could use a little help on their math, unless the manufacturing company got their facts wrong. It would have to have been issued between December 18, 1907 and December 31, 1907 to have been a 1907 card (and therefore one of his several rookies). Quite a small window.
Not likely a rookie, but great card nonetheless, Larry Last edited by ls7plus; 10-27-2015 at 01:14 AM. |

In any event, Dan's autographed fielding pose Dietsch and '23-'24 Exhibit Simmons are absolute wows! Each likely to be one of a kind. It wasn't easy for me to find my non-autographed examples of each of those cards (PSA 5 Fielding Pose Cobb; SGC VG Simmons--each treasures of my own collection--I can't believe I used to carry the Cobb around with me for awhile after I finally got it in 2011). Thanks for correcting me, Larry PS: what in the world are you doing up at this hour? All the best! Last edited by ls7plus; 10-27-2015 at 01:30 AM. |

Glenn, I like your nice group of very scarce backs, especially the Barker Bread. I wanted this card, but couldn't bring myself to bid higher on it because of all the other cards I was bidding on in the Heritage-Luckey auction. Val Last edited by ValKehl; 10-27-2015 at 08:50 PM. |

Sorry no scanner, but going by what I've seen in auctions, ebay and pop reports, I'd have to say my 1955 Exhibit Postcard Back Kaline in PSA 6. Last time I checked, it was the only one graded by either TPG, and a continuing ebay search hasn't turned up any more.
I'm also wondering if my recently acquired 1939 V351 Ted Williams isn't too far off--a total of 3 graded between SGC and PSA, and googling reveals very few auction listings--just two different cards, I believe, which were originally sold raw in 2001 and 2011, if memory serves correctly, and which are now likely the SGC Ex that I own, and the PSA ExMt, which someone sold on a ludicrously low $2000 BIN in 2013. A continuing search for years only came up with the latter two for me. Interesting post, Larry Last edited by ls7plus; 10-27-2015 at 09:29 PM. |

I always knew that E104-1s with Nadja backs were rare, but I only recently realized how rare they really were. I purchased this Plank from the Luckey collection and when I started doing some additional research on the issue, I could not find another example of Plank. There were plenty of blank backed cards out there, but none with the Nadja advertising on the back. I am sure that others exist, but I have not been able to put my finger on another.

No clue, I tried for both and they just wouldn't go for it. With PSA now labeling all error types I would think SGC would be willing to accommodate for their existing customers.

Great pickup. I picked that up in a Lipset auction sometime around 15 yrs ago. I think it went for around 450, Lew commented it was a low price and I wholeheartedly agreed. Even at the price you got it I think it was a good buy. In all my (20ish) years I have seen 1 other plank with nadja back and it was totally beat. Quan has seen it too, I believe. One other was mentioned in the write up also and it's the same one just mentioned. I don't remember anything else....but always knew there was at least one more. I would guess there might be another, somewhere, but it's super rare and really neat, in my book. Congrats.. Any of these cards are rare.....
