Not sports but have not been this excited to add a autograph in awhile and wanted to share if there are any music fans on the board. The Boss Bruce Springsteen was in town on Halloween and was able to get him to sign my poster on the way in and my ticket stub on the way out. One of my favorite musicians and my first time seeing him live. He played a 3 hour set and spent time with the fans before and after the show.

Awesome! Nice piece to have signed.
I've been to about 20 shows, most recently in April. I tried to get his autograph many times, but never came close. Then, in 2009, I was working in the stadium during the Super Bowl week. I got to see his rehearsal, and as I was leaving I heard a familiar voice. I looked over my shoulder and there he was walking behind me. I stopped dead, probably with my mouth open. ![]() He came up and said "How you doin'?" I stammered something about how great the show (rehearsal) was, I was a huge fan, and how he changed my life. ![]() He said "That's nice. That's nice. I'm a big fan of yours, too." and laughed. Then he slapped my back, shook my hand and said "Take care". I never even thought to ask for an autograph.

Very, very cool getting the Boss twice.
I have seen him many times and nobody puts on a show like he does. I saw him in a rain-lightning delay on this tour, where we had to wait for two hours for the show to start. He still did a 3 1/2 hour show and we were at the stadium until 2 am. It was his birthday night and his mom came out with a cake. He cut up the cake and gave some slices to the fans in the front. I also saw him at the Rock n Roll HOF Anniversary concert at MSG and that was one amazing night, with a star list that was amazing.

More great stories. Thanks for sharing Richard. This was the scheduled for the day before Halloween but was pushed back because of the Hurricanes. On youtube there are some videos of him talking about Sandy in Rochester and he also sang the Monster Mash during request time. I just recently decided to go for more in person Rock autographs to go with my sports collection. That Ramones poster is a really nice piece from a great band. Got 1/3 members of ZZ Top the other day to.

Bruce is amazing. I used to have his signature on a sleeve for Open All night, but bought it from secondary market. He's the BEST live performer still around. AMAZING.
you guys should look on YouTube for the clip of Growin up from Louisville the other night. Not only did he grant a sign request for "Growin up" on a guys 20th Birthday, he invited him onstage to sing the last verse w him. Its GREAT. Guy goes nuts. WHAT A THRILL for him. |

In 2004 Bruce was campaigning with John Kerry.
They were at the Univ of Wisconsin and guys were hanging out the dorm windows as Bruce did some songs. A couple of guys yelll down and invite Bruce to their room to share some pizza. Concert ends,,, 5 minutes later there is a knock on their door. They open the door and there is Bruce. How cool that must have been.

As a hardcore punk aficionado, I stumbled upon a few years ago a founding guitarist for the long since defunct and seminal band Black Flag selling 1970s proof records, metal pressing plates and cover art from the band on eBay. Considering those types of bands were about 2,000 miles outside the mainstream and were the definition of DIY, that type of stuff is almost unheard of on the market. I was surprised the stuff existed.
Sorry, he didn't autograph anything, making it off topic. Last edited by drc; 11-06-2012 at 10:40 PM. |

Love the autographs of Bruce and The Ramones! I'll go a little old school with my music autographs. I was in band during my high school years. For fundraisers, we held a series of jazz concerts over the span of three years. We had to set up the stage and for the Count Basie concert. A group of us had to lift a baby grand piano down a flight of stairs into our gym. Count Basie was a classy man and talked to us about some of his experiences. He signed autographs for everyone who set up the stage and I had him sign my poster after a frantic search around my school for anything for him to sign!

Sure it is.
These things are cyclical. Sooner or later the balloon will burst with the cult of personality messiah and it won't seem so fashionable to look to the government as the solution to every problem. It doesn't seem like it now, but self-determination doesn't go out of style. ![]()

It has nothing to do with a "cult of personality," and everything to do with voter demographics. My super-old neighbor dropped by today while I was doing yard work and told me many things regarding how disappointed he was in the election results. I was polite because he's super old, but one of his parting notes made me raise my eyebrows. He mentioned how men have given up their leadership role when it comes to women. I guess that in the "old days" a woman would vote how her husband voted (I don't actually know if this was a "spoken" thing, or if she just knew to do so). This certainly isn't so anymore, and there's no doubt that we're better off for it. My wife is quite capable in a way that I gather my neighbor isn't familiar with. The world is changing. Women do stuff. She deserves to have her voice heard independent of mine. I truly believe this. Her interests are naturally informed by a different set of issues than mine...we still tend to agree on most stuff anyhow. The same is true for all minorities who's voices were marginalized for years and years. Black, female, homosexual, Latino, atheist, whatever...these groups comprise a huge majority when their interests intersect. The world is bigger and smaller at the same time and we have an awesome opportunity to reject fear and exclusion and embrace their opposites. Cult of personality doesn't even begin to explain why Obama and his progressive ideas are more popular than any mainstream GOP leader's stone-aged ideas. I certainly reject the idea that the election of Obama was unconstitutional. Deal with reality now...it IS different and frankly, I believe it IS better. |

The biggest problem in society nowadays is that everyone thinks they deserve to be the boss and no one thinks that they have to work hard. I would bet our parents worked harder in one day than most of us work in a week. You have kids that work for fortune 500 companies that can't start their day at work without a Starbucks break. The days of paying your way through college then working hard to repay your debt is a thing of the past. People today think they deserve everything and don't have to work for anything. This is supposed to be ok and because we are the land of opportunity, we must be obligated to pay for it. Problem is, HE is running out of people to pay for it. Am I bitter, no. Am I disappointed that my children will have to pay off debt because people are too lazy to take care of themselve, yes. Please don't give me the needy story either as my family has been in that spot before. This is going way off topic so this is where I bow out. Good talk Rusty, good talk.

Are you crazy, Steve? The "tax and spend Democrats" provided a surplus for the "don't tax but spend trillions more on unfunded wars" Republicans to piss away, create the largest debt ever, and then crash the economy to boot.
But, hey, it's much easier to blame it all on Obama's charisma. Whatever works for you. Last edited by David Atkatz; 11-08-2012 at 07:12 PM. |

The debt, Jason, came from unfunded wars. You wanna have a war? Fine. But wars are expensive. So you raise taxes to pay for them. (Check your history. See how we paid for WWI, WWII, the Korean War, etc.)
You don't start two wars, and lower taxes. It causes huge deficits. Last edited by David Atkatz; 11-08-2012 at 06:26 PM. |

You assume I support the war, which is wrong. I support the troops, but I support managing ourselves before we try to push our ideas on other countries. If you mess with the bull, you get the horns. I am sick and tired of babysitting the world to spread our agenda. I am conservative, not necessarily republican.
