I'm on vacation and just went to a random card shop. The owner has 3 1911 E94 Close Caramel cards. I am smart enough to know they are originals and not reprints. He has John McGraw, Byrne, and Turner. They are in P-F condition. The McGraw has a heavy crease and minor writing, as does the Turner. The Byrne has no writing and is creased. Still they are presentable and he offered them to me for $100 for the 3. Is this a good deal and will SGC grade card with writing on them. P.S---there is no back damage. |

I would have to think the McGraw alone is worth over $100 |

Sounds like a great deal, his price of $33 ea. is about 6-8 years old. All Caramel cards values have jumped lately. High book in the SCD is now $3,100 total for the 3 cards (NRMT). I lucked out about 3 weeks ago and got a lower grade E94 McGraw for only $11 on eBay, it was being auctioned as a T206. |

With writing, assuming the cards aren't trimmed, an SGC 30 is about the best you can do. |

heavy crease + writing = sgc10...unless the writing is a stamped overprint, then we're talking. |

Just got back from my trip. These cards all look SGC 10ish. |

That was a great deal. The McGraw alone is probably worth a few hundred bucks. |

Thank you. It just goes to show that asking a store owner if he has "old baseball cards in the back" sometimes does work! |

Just an update, SGC just graded all these cards an SGC 10. I'm definately keeping the McGraw, still thinking about the other 2. |

James- as I recall the McGraw was violet. If you have any thoughts about selling it down the road, please let me know. |
