first is 2 allstar bats from 1938 and 39, from a friends parents house where these were found when they moved in many years ago, they are in mint cond. Next is a signed bat by jackie robinson on a roberto clemente model found at a flea market in new york for 75 dollars. it had clear packing tape which had yellowed over the years and i peeled it off real slow and it never affected the autograph. authenticated by jim spence. then a 1870 manufactured baseball found at an upstate antique store for 10 dollars , to bad a piece of leather was missing but where will you see another one.Last a babe herman game used bat with H43 on the knob, which if anyone could date manufacturing period i would appreciate the help. its still great when you can search high and low and not sit on ebay. happy hunting. |

Kevin, I can't see in the scan, but if it says "Trade Mark Reg" under the center oval it dates from 1943-1949. If it says "Reg. U.S. Pat Off." it is from 1950-1960. |

What is it about the baseball that indicates it's from the 1870's? |

Small stitch baseballs like that are usually dated to the mid 1880's to early 1890's. Still rare and a nice example and a rare ball. |

dan, yours dates from about 1901 to 1915s to20s because of the color stitches. my pics. dont show how tight the stitching is it is much tighter than a reg. baseball, and that it is 9" around. i know the stitches look the same as a regular baeball. |

Kevin, Since Babe Herman stopped playing much after 1936 (he had a total of 54 at bats between 1937 and 1945), this couldn't be sold as a Gamer for him. It's a pro-model bat from the 1950s. It could be a college or semi-pro bat but it is unlikely to have been used in the big leagues. It's a great bat, but not a Babe Herman gamer. |
