Can any come up with some good ones?
1926 Ruth, Gehrig, Hornsby, Alexander 1951 DiMaggio, Mantle, Berra, Mays More Modern Day 1976 Bench, Morgan, Rose, Munson I'm gonna say one of these 3 are the best, but that's just off the top of my head. "a lil' help?" |

1969 Robinson, Robinson, Palmer, Seaver
1966 Robinson, Robinson, Palmer, Koufax, Drysdale who are you leaving off? 1970 Robinson, Robinson, Palmer, Bench, Rose and leaving off HOF'er Perez you can choose the other one who doesn't make the cut. 1971 (seeing a theme yet?) Robinson, Robinson, Palmer and Clemente (leaving off Maz and Stargell) 1975 (beats 1976 easily) Bench, Rose, Morgan, Fisk, Yaz all ahead of Munson and you still have to cut one. 1980 Schmidt, Carlton, Rose, Brett 1996 Boggs, Jeter, Rivera, Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Jones, pick 4! and that's leaving off some of the best players not in the Hall McGriff, Cone, Pettite. Sick star power that year.

Trivia - 40 times has a WS gone 7 games. So I think there are 40 to choose from to determine the best. 'Cuz to be the best it has to go 7. And winning in the bottom of the 9th or extra would probably also be a requirement of best ever so that would whittle those 40 down to a handful. |

I'll see that pitching heavy suggestion and raise you to the 2001 World Series: Clemens, Big Unit, Schilling and Rivera. No room for Jeter, Mussina, etc.

2004 Red Sox have a pretty good foursome all by themselves in Big Papi, Schilling, Pedro and Manny. Although at least one wouldn't make the cut for this exercise because of that guy named Albert... Cardinals also had Rolen, Larry Walker and Yadi on that team.

1981 Dodgers!
Fernando Valenzuela, Steve Garvey, Dusty Baker, Davey Lopes Maybe not the best ever, but good enough to beat the Yankees. And in my book that's good enough. Last edited by Vegas Cards; 12-02-2020 at 06:30 PM. |

Team was loaded with Hall of Very Good type guys and you left off the best players Ron Cey and Reggie Smith, by WAR had the best career of all of those guys!

Moe started us out with some good ones. The 1926 and 1951 series were loaded with big WAR players. The 1929 series is a great suggestion, as are the 1909, 1915, 1937, 1975, and 1996 series. In my opinion, if the 1928 Athletics had made it to the series, they and the 28 Cards would be the best, hands down: Cobb, Speaker, Eddie Collins, Alexander, Grove, Simmons, etc.

Speaking of the Red Sox, 1946 could include Teddy, Doerr, Musial and Slaughter, while the 1967 classic featured Brock, Bob Gibson, Steve Carlton and Yaz.

On the other end, the 2008 World Series between the Phillies and Rays features no foreseeable HOF members of either team.
