Default Show your Smoky Joe Wood cards!

Admittedly I'm doing this for selfish reasons because I'm on the hunt for a card of Joe Wood and would love to see the options out there.

Maybe it's the stories about how he used to barnstorm with an all women's team. But there's something mystical about the guy. I put him up there with Satchel Paige and Gehrig and other guys whose legend is a cut above. You know, mystical level, coming out of the fog, fading into the cornfields...

Show any or all you have related to Joe Wood. The more obscure, the better!

Probably not much more than a handful of these floating around....I'd be surprised if they totaled double digits

Erick that's the Fleischmann of Wood, right? Stunning card. You know, I think part of it is his face. The dude emits "old school" in every direction.

Wood is my second favorite pitcher, behind Walter Johnson. This is his Underwood & Underwood postcard. I am sure that there are others out there, but I have never seen another.

In the movie "Field of Dreams" when Ray, Terrance, and a young Archie Graham return to the field in Iowa. Doesn't Archie say "There's Smoky Joe Wood"?
Love the cards and pictures!

Default Smoky Joe Wood

I know these baseball cards aren't pre-war but they're still smokin' cool.

"Baseball is all I ever wanted. I could eat, sleep, and dream baseball." - Smoky Joe Wood

"Can I throw harder than Joe Wood? Listen mister, no man alive can throw any harder than Smoky Joe Wood." - Walter Johnson

Field Of Dreams

Archie Graham: "Hey, that's Smoky Joe Wood. And Mel Ott. And Gil Hodges!"

Shoeless Joe Jackson: "Ty Cobb wanted to play, but none of us could stand the son-of-a-bitch when we were alive, so we told him to stick it!"
