Default little help w/ 32 caramel ruth....

backdrop first.

bought this card 3 - 4 years back when getting back into the hobby. anywho, ran across this ruth that had absolutely tremendous eye appeal. was one of the cards that I loved as a kid. paid $2K I think. didn't know much about graded cards at the time, but was told that it came back "a" because of a slight pinhole/maybe slight doctoring on the back" (see arrow).

1st question: does it looked trimmed to you experts out there, as well?

flash forward a few years years. vcp has "a" ruths listed at $371. I have the chance and ability to upgrade a few grades ahead, so I am possibly thinking about letting her go, which brings me to my 2nd question:

2nd question: what do you think she's worth?

i've looked at other "a's" out there and none really hold a candle to this one, imo. i am mainly into 50's, 60's & 70's cards and not much pre-war so figured i'd bring her over here to this forum to see what the pro's think.

you guys seem to know your sh!t, so...

if this is frowned upon, I'm sorry. just lemme know and i'll yank the thread....

as stated, I'm just lost on this one and not even sure I even wanna sell her til I have the other locked up, even then I still might have a hard time letting her go.

"you always remember your first!"

3rd question: was i a fool dropping $2K on her?

i have thick skin, so feel free to bash if so.

It looks a tad short and neat but hard to say.

Not a bad looking card but I would probably opt for a nice 1-2 grade for that price. I think they can be had for about that...

yes, I was rook and a lil naïve on grading, but it does have a tremendous eye appeal.

currently looking at a 7, so we will see what happens.

If $2000 is the worst you've ever been beaten on a card, you're a genius in this hobby, not a fool. All that being said, that card is trimmed for sure.

cal,

luckily it is and don't necessarily feel beaten even though she's apparently trimmed. now, i've had more than enough fake slabs or scams attempted. could probably write a very long synopsis on that front. luckily I learned at a very young age about the importance of due diligence!

I was going to tell him it wouldn't make my top 5 3 mistakes.

at $2000, it might make my top 3, not 5....but 4 digits, not my top 5

was looking at a 75 vida blue from pristine paper. googled name and your locked thread popped up. crazy stuff there!
