Default My wife's name for this site

I have been a member just about 2 years to the day. I thought I would share this. I like to look at what others post, and I like to look at their cards, memorabilia, etc. So one day I was drooling over a card a member posted. My wife said: "You looking at baseball card porn again?". I never heard that phrase. So whenever my wife wants to know what I am doing on the computer, I tell her I am "looking at that BB card porn site. "Leon-is this OK to post?

As I told someone in a PM yesterday. Members on this site can post almost anything they want to anytime they want to. My main concern is that when they are giving an opinion of someone, a company, or are in a heated debate, that their name is by their post. The rules are lengthy, most never read them anyway, but the main thing is not hiding behind a keyboard. That is my biggest pet peeve on the internet and with chat boards. As far as this being "card-porn" I have heard that phrase numerous times. I have to agree. Some cards our members share are freaking awesome. And since we are here, here is one of my favorite Wags cards, D381. Funny quick story on this one, I have told it before but....... My good friend David Bry.an put this one up on ebay many years ago. I saw it before there were any bids and asked him if I could buy it for $3500 before there was a bid? He said, although I was a friend, he just couldn't pull it as it was his policy not to do that with his auctions. I respected that and put my snipe in. I ended up getting it for $3550. It was a win-win!! (don't you hate that phrase?)

Default My wife often says "Are you on that baseball card site again?"

which is most often followed quickly by "Well, at least I know where you are and what you're doing."

Although she would never admit it, I think she takes some comfort in that.

She likes my hobby & the site, instead of posters of cars/pinups I have tobacco adds and AH catalogues in my office.

Yesterday I brought a handful of cards home from the bank to show a few people at the National....my wife saw them on the counter this morning and called me quite upset..."You're not selling your ghost".....she is a keeper.

I got the exact same response when she saw my 2 e107s sitting next to the monitor one night with a very stern voice...they are definitely keepers.

I wear my Net54 shirt all the time. She knows what this 'hobby' means to me. But her term is 'Net Whatever'....
"You got another 'Net Whatever' package today"... Love it - and her...

Default I love seeing other collectors' "Bigguns"

I laugh when my wife says the same thing about my addiction to Net 54. I tell her that it is better than me looking at Porn all night.

Leon, Love the Wagner, but isn't amazing how old Wagner looks by 1916. I guess he had been in the league for about 17 years by that time, but it's remarkable how much athletes age slower these days. (No this is not to start a debate on PEDs, just an observation.)

Bigguns was Al Bundy's favorite Porn Magazine in Married with Children. I loved that show.

He was 42 in 1916. Also, there weren't night games back then. Playing so many games out in the middle of the broad daylight takes a toll on your skin as the years roll by. I doubt they had sunscreen back then.

+1

Reason #2,373 i would never have made it back then. Being outside in the hot sun with no sunscreen on literally sounds like torture to me.

lol..I had that same talk with my fiance' a couple weeks ago because she says I spend too much time on the forum. All I could say was "at least its not a porn forum" and somehow I set myself up because her response was "how do you know there are porn forums?"..Lets just say I shook my head and walked out of the room real casually.
