Is there a story behind this particular listing of a T206 Honus Wagner on eBay? It just showed up this afternoon. Possibly the seller is on this board even. Just curious if this was a known event or a publicized listing in advance. Just a couple of days ago someone asked if these ever showed up on eBay...I guess the answer is yes.

You would think the seller could show an image of the back of the card.....

Lou, I thought that odd also. And the fact that it will be shipped USPS Parcel. Why no courier or Express shipment?

i dont think it looks that bad because the face of wagner is spared from any creasing. of course its listed on ebay because it has a high start price, thus no risk is taken as far as it going for a song. if you put a high start price and someone bites and the sale goes through, why not list it?

I agree with Travis, it's a nice looking Wags to me. I would have to see the back....paper loss is a deal breaker to me.

Just a hunch, though I could be wrong. I would hope that anyone with the cash to buy it and flip it would take the time to make a nice presentation. Economy shipping, no back scan and an obvious cut and paste job in the description.....cut corners all around. Just not someone I'd send a half million dollars to, that's all.

I aspire to own a plank about like that one day...I would love to have a Wags, but would probably prefer a patio home in a nice little resort area, assuming I ever have a spare $400K laying around. As a general rule, it's hard to lose money on a Wagner, but that one could be a candidate.

Has anybody looked at the stuff he has sold? I know if I had a Plank and a Wagner, I would let a Disney vendor sell it on eBay. What would the fees be on those two?

Having such different scans/photos for each listing (one photo without flash, one photo with flash, one scan with black background, one scan with white background) would make me very nervous. That and, as pointed out, if you look at seller's prior auctions, the sales consist about 90% of Disney items.

The Plank was in an auction that ended April 21:

The seller is someone who reads this forum. He knows what he is doing!
Do you want to make an easy $50K per year? Buy a Wagner (PSA1) @ $280K, wait three years and sell it for $150K more than you you purchased it at. It's better than the stock market for sure. As ridiculous as this sounds; it is not far from the truth. Craig Last edited by Craig M; 05-07-2013 at 07:00 PM. |

I'd still put in a fair offer on the Connecticut Wagner (eBay) if I had that kind of cash. Adrian? Want to put in $200K and I'll put in $25K and we'll call it even? ![]() ![]() |

Both the Plank and Wagner are on the first page of the "Wall of T206" thread, which is also on the front page. That wall of cards is pretty incredible! Good luck with the sale Powell.
Re- earlier comment about the Wags vs. the stock market.. You could've made same or similar return investing in conservative DOW, S&P, and/or Nasdaq composites over the same time... Or doubled your money had you gone in a little earlier. In the past 3-5 years, T206 Wags and stocks were both great investments. ![]() (Pardon, I just saw the link had been posted a couple posts ago... Pretty awesome wall regardless) Last edited by itjclarke; 05-12-2013 at 02:34 PM. Reason: Just seeing previously posted link |
